Well, we made reservations with a very rude CRO who asked for all of my personal information, which was just inappropriate. Luckily, our requests were on the reservation when we got to the desk (after nearly an hour wait) but none of them were granted. I'd requested a dehumidifier for my allergies, an obstruction free view(there were huge trees right outside the balcony), two double beds (my husband sleeps in a different bed at home so that's what I'm used to--put us in a king and forget it! No sleep!), smoking and extra firm foam pillows for my lower back. Nothing was right and the rate was still the full amount. I fumed. We couldn't cancel because couldn't make an earlier flight without penalities, so we were taken to our concierge level main building room and were prompted by the rude bellhop for a hand-out. He didn't actually put out his hand but I got that sense from him after he put down our luggage inside the room, so I gave him a few dollars. You think that the room rate would be enough, but no. You were nickel and dimed everywhere.
So anyway, I knew I was in for a vacation with no sleep but I wanted to see the concierge lounge. The food was okay...just some hors d'oeuvres but I'm on the Palm Beach diet and nothing was in my plan. I asked for other selections and they suggested room service (for an extra fee). No surprise there.
We walked around the first night but the sand on the resort's beach was the man made kind that really sticks all over you. Hubby wasn't happy about all the sand I tracked in (though I actually saw more on his shoes than mine).
The parks were okay but I was always tired because of the bed situation. We had a magic kingdom view but the castle has the monorail line in the front of it so it kind of ruined the effect. I did like the electric parade. Aside of the trees, we had a pretty good view. They need to update the music though--it's like "Little Mermaid theme" circa 1989. I'm not kidding. Madonna age.
I thought the hotel was stuffy and overpriced, the stores in the lobby were ones I'd never heard of (come on, what about a nice Victoria Secrets?? It's supposed to be a Victorian hotel!!!), and the elevator always took forever. They should put a monorail to get to places around the resort like they have in the Contemporary.
The worst part was hubby and I got sick and were charged extra cleaning fees for our sickness, which wasn't our fault. We got to drinking at Epcock and after a loooong monorail ride, our stomachs were pretty queasy, to say the least. We even got charged for messing up the concierge lounge, and hubby only got sick in there once. It was horrible. Then our room was so bad smelling but they wouldn't move us. We spent the last day recuperating by just eating the snacks out of that refridgerator, but then they charged us for all that stuff, too. Blew my diet and my budget, and how are you supposed to know its not included in the room if its in your refrigerator?????
My last stay on-site. Never again. 7000 and no sleep for a week!!!
