Grand Floridan Cafe vs Chef Mickey's for Breakfast

I am looking to do a sit down breakfast the morning that we have Epcot reservations. We are staying in the Contemporary hotel, so Chef Mickey's seems like a no brainer, but we are not big eaters. It seems to me that it is a modified "buffet style." Can someone explain what breakfast is currently like at Chef Mickey's and what breakfast is like at the Grand Floridan Cafe. I currently have reservations at the Grand Floridan, but have been thinking of changing to Chef Mickey's.

What are your thoughts?

When we stay in the MK resort area GF Cafe is always our Breakfast Choice. We find it is more relaxed good service & Food. Ask for a window seat the grounds are so pretty.

We are booked for Chef Mickeys modified buffet and heard really good things about it and for the price seems great. We have done the character breakfast at Cher Mickeys and it was good but for the price it was more for the characters. Now that my daughter is 14, characters are "not cool" lol. That being said, we ALWAYS do a meal at Grand Floridian. Just love the food and atmosphere. Never had a bad meal there. She even asks to eat there. We also have reservations for Grand Floridian this trip too.

When are you going? The set up at Chef Mickey's is changing December 16th with the return of the characters. Not sure what the new price is. I had breakfast at GFC twice in September. I really enjoyed it because it was so relaxing. Food was good, too. One thing to check for - the butter they bring you. The first morning they brought the specialty orange butter. And when I asked for normal butter, they brought yet another dish of the orange butter. On my second visit, it was normal butter from the get-go. SO if you are wanting to try the orange butter, be sure to let them know!

If you are looking for a relaxed normal size meal with great service - GF. If you are in search of copious amounts of food, lots of kids and subpar service - CM :) We ate at both last week.

Thanks for the great replys. It sounds like keeping our Grand Floridan reservation is the right path for us.
Oh, and the orange butter sounds fantastic.

Good choice. If you wanted to eat around the world, I would have said no to CM - you would be too full

While we LOVE CM as it stands right now, we won't be returning once they add characters back. It's been such a nice meal recently and we have chosen it over GF Cafe, Kona, and The Wave since things reopened.

After the change, we're going back to GF Cafe and The Wave as our go-to MK breakfast spots.

GF Cafe has always been delicious though we haven't been since the reopening. My only complaint there has always been super slow service (both brunch and dinner!) but hopefully that has improved.

(did you consider The Wave?)

Love GF Cafe! We always go more than once per trip! Quality is better than Chef Mickey’s, to me.
However, my kids still love Chef Mickey’s even without the characters.

GF cafe, we never did breakfast there but we have done early lunches and never had a bad one.
