Grand Californian Concierge?

big, HUGE mistake :rotfl:

Twas what I alluded to as well... once you stay there, you find it very hard to feel the same way about any of the other rooms/Good Neighbors that you did prior to staying in the GCH concierge.

Concierge had me at chocolate strawberries!

So outside the snacks and drinks, which is awesome, what other things might we expect. We have never stayed Concierge so we are looking forward to it.

Can someone explain to me how the wine service works? I know they have cordials/liqueurs in the evening but do they have a bar? Other options?

At 20, this is where my knowledge of the concierge lounge ends. :rotfl2:

Yes..do they serve beer? My DH is a beer guy..and what time is the tea? Man..that sounds so good..I think I'll just skip the parks and eat....

oops see that beer is mentioned..wheeee.

I've heard there is storytelling for the kids at night, not sure if this is everynight, whether differs peak vs off season... would love to know.

I hear that you have to order alchohol from the servers, and that they don't proactively offer refills, but it is available and part of their service.

I'm also looking forward to watching fireworks from the lounge on our first night...does anyone know, is it an outside viewing deck, or indoors in the lounge only? I assume music is piped in?

That was our experience with the alcohol when we were there in January...didn't watch the fireworks, though...will have to try and do that on our next trip.

I asked DVC MS regarding the fireworks.

I was advised no music is piped in. I am not sure if the viewing is inside/outside.

My DS will be turning 3 while we are there. He will LOVE the storytime. I am really interested in that. My DH will love the beer. My DD will love all the cookies and soda. I will love the chocoate covered strawberries.

That's news to me. When there 2 years ago at Christmas the music was "piped in" to outdoor speakers so when we were standing/sitting at the tables on the balcony we could hear the music perfectly and it was magnificent. Not sure if you could hear it inside the lounge because we stayed outside to take videos. I sure do hope that's the case this year because we're going again and want the same. There was a beautiful Christmas tree and Santa even came up and talked story with the kids, along with carolers who sang Christmas tunes and a storyteller playing guitar, very cool! :santa:

When I inquired to DVC MS my question was regarding the lounge...that was a no. At the time I did not realize there was an outside deck to view fireworks. So, I hope you are right about the outside having music...that would be W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L and :cool1:.

I'm thinking maybe they were thinking about the rooms? DVC MS possibly doesn't know much about the DL Hotels....
I know the DLH rooms have music piped in, but probably not GCH. I hope the Concierge balcony (is that what it is?) does have the music!

the Grand Concierge lounge does have the music piped it to enjoy the fireworks show.

Come to think of it there might be a miscommunication with the DVC MS... I believe there is a top floor lounge with outside deck being built for the new DVC part of the GC and it is on the DCA side to watch the new water show when it is finished. Maybe that lounge won't have it piped in from DL's fireworks because it's on the opposite side of the hotel ... but I'm pretty sure it's piped into the GC concierge lounge facing DL, like pycees312 said. pixiedust:

I have been looking for this information and cannot find it.

Why are they not making a concierge level at GCV?

My guess is with only 48 units, they didn't want to allocate some to concierge...maybe if they build more DVC units at a later date they'll have some concierge. That would be great!

I don't know about the fireworks, as we didn't watch them from the lounge.

I do know that a couple of times a week they have a sing-along in the lounge for kids! It's very cute. A guy with a guitar plays fun songs and invites the kids to participate. There are blankets on the floor and kids are welcome to go in their jammies. I think it's around 7:30 PM.

As far as alcohol, it is just beer and wine. It isn't out, but the attendants will come around and ask if you'd like anything. When we were there, one man requested several beers after the official wine reception was over and they happily accommodated his request. The lounge CMs were extremely nice and did all kinds of extras for people during our stay.

Yeah, this is what I thought...

There's a specific channel on the hotel television network that plays constant Disney music at every time except that of the Fireworks show: it is then that they play the "audio" portion of the show.

And, should my memory serve me correctly, the CM's turn on the TV in the lounge and then pipe the music out to the balcony.

That's how it was in December when I last stayed there... not sure if they have changed it since.

Don't mean to rain on the parade but here was my garden concierge view in Feb. Just an FYI that the view may not be that great - it was a very green roof though. :rotfl: (to the left it was all roof).
Still - concierge level was wonderful and it was a cozy corner to be in, but honestly, it was the one of the worst views I've ever had at a Disney hotel.

No offense, but it looks like you got the absolute worst view in the resort... :rotfl2:
