I will be closing on our first DVC membership in November. Everytime I read on here I think of more questions.

Our home resort will be AKL and I hope to stay at many of the DVC resorts but I am fine if we have to stay at AKL most of the time while at WDW.

What I am worried about is if we try to book at Grand California at Disneyland. Our vacations will for the most part always take place in the summer. Will we have any trouble booking at 7 months during this time? Also, does it matter that we are buying resale?

Thanks.

Buying resale will not affect your ability to book at the Villas at the Grand Californian.

You may run into times where it will be difficult but many say that if you book right at the 7-month mark you SHOULD be fine. I wouldn't always count on that because of its size, but there are those who seem to have no problem at that point. Obviously everybody won't be able to do this, so the one with the quickest finger getting all the information into the system when the 7-month window opens will win.

I agree. Due to the small size of VGC it can be difficult to get into the resort. We have twice been able to book a 1 bedroom; the first time in July (2010) and then again in June (2013). So once before Carsland and once after. The best shot at getting what you want is booking exactly at 7 months and as pp said the one with the quickest finger will fare better. So login and be prepared to hit enter at the exact time the window opens.

Congrats on your membership!

Really, really wishing they would build another California property instead of still another in FL at that Poly now. We really like to once in awhile make a trip that is not planned 7 months out. Looking at Jan, Feb and Mar now and there is nothing other than a day here and a day there. :(

This is a piggy back question to my original post. We will usually be traveling during the summer. If we want to stay somewhere other than AKL and we book at 7 months, will we have trouble getting in to BLT, VGF, VWL, etc. If we stay somewhere other than "home", I'd figure we would want to stay close to MK.

Thanks.

If you try to get it at exactly 7 months, your chances are good. I'm 3 for 3 at VGC, including last month before D23. I got BLT at 7 months in early March, AKV at 4 months for November.

It depends on when you want to go and what size villa.
