I am trying to find more information on Grand Adventures in Cooking at the GF. Have any of your kids done this before and how did they like it? Also, I want to be sure that whoever was in charge would not allow a child to go off with the wrong adult. How do they handle this? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks:wave2:

We did this in April 03 and have a reservation for April 04.

Out DD was 7 last year. She had a wonderful time. Each child gets to keep the paper chef's hat and cloth apron they decorate. We were there a few days before Easter so the kids decorated Easter cookies. They were told a story, washed their hands several times, and the cookies were pre-baked. The supplies to decorate were plentiful and very creative.

The Mousekeeter Club at the GF runs the program. You check in the child in 15 minutes before it starts. The parents are given a Motorolla pager (this is an actual full service pager not a restarurant style that only works for x feet). You can go where ever you like for the length of the program. They will page you if there is an emergency or you child get upset etc.

At the end, parents meet in a small lobby off the main GF lobby (it is at the rear of 1900 PF). The children serve their creations to family and GF guests. Each child also got to sample a cookie at the end.

Parents pickup their kids by returning their beepers. They were crossed off a list. Each of the kids wore a stick-on name tag with their first names. I almost gave them the wrong beeper back (it is exactly the same pager I wear all the time for work). The staff made sure that each child was with a parent at the end.

My DD loved the program. There were both boys and girls in her group. Ages of the kids encompased young 4-5 upto 10. Several had done the activity before.

I have digital pictures of the end of the event but don't know how to post. Let me know if you have any other questions

Thank you for the information. I am taking my granddaughter to WDW next Dec. I had heard of the Grand Adventures in Cooking and thought that it might be something she would like to do. She will be 8 by then. I wanted to know that I didn't have to worry about her going off with a stranger. I think that I will make reservations for her to do this. Thanks again. ::yes::

Our two girls did this last July and LOVED it. Worked just as described by Vavasmon, and since we had done the Tea Party the year before, knew the girls were in excellent hands.

I have a couple pictures here: Couple Grand Adventures in Cooking pictures in last summers trip report.

I think your grand daughter will have a GREAT time!

Tagrel, thanks for the info. I checked out your pictures and read some of your trip report. I have never gone to WDW with a child except my DD, who is 30. She is usually the one to take care of me. I want to plan a few things that will be fun yet give us a break from the parks. I think it's a go with this one. The pictures were great and gave me an idea of what to expect.

Thanks you muchly :wave2:

My daughter loves all three of the GF’s children’s activities. She attended them most recently over two months ago. This time I asked her to dictate to me what happened during each of those events. I posted her words in my trip report on the Dis’ Trip Reports board: click here to view my thread. On page 5 you’ll find the Grand Adventures in Cooking Class write-up (I forget what pages contain the write-ups for the Pirates Cruise and the Wonderland Tea Party). By the way, I have links to photos in that thread but will post them here for convenience: click here for Grand Adventures In Cooking Class photo album and click here for a slideshow version.

I wish I could attend those events (oh, to be young again, sigh).
