Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

Tammie - this goes along with the PM. I found it - so this is a way to save a bit too...

This is definitely a tour that we will do again! Oh, and by the way I booked using my Disney Visa and saved 20%...lots of fun and saved money too!

Dolphins definately look awesome! I may still think about it at Epcot, and do Discovery Cove another trip.

Oh, I hope I didn't confuse you - that info was for the one at EPCOT - not Discovery Cove. That is different, but you are right - that would need to be a seperate trip.

The EPCOT one has two - snorkle with fish (which you said you didn't like) and Dolphin Encounter - the PMed info. Sorry if I was clear as mud before. I'm batty half the time.

I totally understood - I think my reply was clear as mud!:rotfl2: I just think that for the money, Discovery Cove is a better value, but I want two days then - one for DC and one for SW.

Allright, let's see - I knew I was starting this PTR a little early - I've given you our itinerary, travel plans and ADRs -

I took pictures of my new shoes and bag - now what?:confused3

we leave in 30 DAYS!!!! (remember this is a short month)

Well, I was thinking about borrowing a couple of DISers ideas - thanks Dan, thanks Kara - and play some Disney Trivia - anyone want to play? (Isn't that what we do while we wait - play games?)

To start with, I'll ask a couple of DTD questions, since our resort SSR is at DTD, then we'll move to the parks.

Todays question:

On which body of water is DTD located?
a. Buena Vista Lagoon
b. Bay Lake
c. Seven Seas Lagoon
d. Pleasure Island Bay

Until then, thanks for playing!

oh, a game? i'm in! i love games.

my guess is A but that's only because i stayed at SSR and made a mental note of what the lake was called.

oh trivia this will be good for me to know and point out to the guys when we go.. Im sure they will love it LOL who am I kidding? LOL

ok im guessing A

YEAH! Thanks for playing! If you guessed A, you get a point! (I'll let you keep track of your points - the winner gets a surprise from my trip!)

Buena Vista Lagoon - Downtown Disney was once call Lake Buena Vista Village, and maps called the body of water Buena Vista Lagoon.

Next Question:

What happened to one of WDW's original monorail trains after it was replaced by the Mark VI series?

a. It was sold on EBay
b. It was accidentally dropped from a crane and destroyed
c. It was sent to Walt Disney's home town in Missouri
d. When Walt Disney was cryogenically frozen after his death, he was put inside the train, which was later buried behind the Magic Kingdom.

We found a great rate at Tropicana - it is newly refurbished and right next door to the MGM - which I know in Vegas is a long way!:rotfl2: Jim showed me on a map that the distance from our hotel to the arena at MGM is about the same as going from our previous rooms at MGM to the same area - its so huge! We are saving $500 on our room!

We were front row with Tim - all the way to the stage! Unbelievable! Two of the girls from our team actually had their heads in his lap while he was singing- Don't tell Faith!;)

I'll be back with your trivia answers - I wanted to give Dawn a little time to check in!

Tammie - that is so cool! We were at the Mirage when we went, and I was AMAZED how much of a walk things were compaired to how they looked on a map. If I go back, I think I want to give CP a try. It looked cool. LOVED looking around at the shops. We aren't big gamblers - I played $40 and walked away with $250 and stopped! :lmao: I'm not that risky of a person - no need to be greedy! :)

You will have a great time! I knew someone who stayed at the Tropicana and liked their stay. They said they got a room that someone before them must have been smoking cigars in - so make sure to ask for NS room! :goodvibes

Thanks Lorrie! We are really looking forward to it!

Okay, I see I didn't change the date on page 1, so I will give the answer to the previous question and update.

The answer to the last question was A) It was sold on EBay.

On May 27, 2002 Monorail Red was put on the Auction Block by Disney Auctions, and sold on June 6 for $20,000 plush shipping.

Next Question:

The original name of Disney's Old Key West Resort was:

a) The Disney Inn
b) Disney's Vacation Club Resort
c) Disney's Club Lake Villas
d) The Disney Institute

im going with B for this next one...

I guess if you have $20,000 to blow, you can put it just about anywhere you want!:lmao:

Okay, we have 2 votes for B - anyone else?

:headache: I just lost my post! Okay, I'll try again:

The answer to Trivia question #3 is b) Disney's Vacation Club Resort - it was renamed Old Key West Resort in 1996.
QUESTION #4 TOMORROW!

I'm excited tonight about a small detail - who to share it with but my PTR buds? I couldn't decide which area at SSR to request. I loved brand new Grandstand in 2007. This year, the main pool, High Rocks Springs, is going to be closed for refurb. in March. That means that the quieter pool at Grandstand will now be the "main pool."

Since we're doing a relaxing trip, I decided we should be in another area this trip. I called and requested Congress Park, DTD view today!:yay: I hope it's not too late to get my request. I will miss the pool bar, but I guess we'll manage!:cool1:

we had congress park DTD view last year and we LOVED it!!! if you're looking at DTD (across the lake), we were in the building on the far left. it was so great because the bus stop is in the middle so that's pretty close by and then we were the closest building to DTD marketplace - it was literally a 10-minute walk.

by the way, i made a request for congress park DTD view and when we checked in they tried to put is in the carousel, which i did NOT want. i asked the CM if we waited for another room if anything would be available in CP. she said yes but it wouldn't be until that afternoon. i told her that was fine - we were going to AK anyway. so that's how we got the room we did. just wanted to let you know they may not honor your request but you can still ask and it might work out!

Thanks Dawn! Sometimes I think they don't know if they should give you a room that's ready or honor your request. We're not getting in until 8pm, so we'll be lucky to get any request, but I'll try.:goodvibes
