*Graduation Celebration*~Taking the Rat to see the Mouse!

Patrick is 6'4ish and I'm 5'4ish....so about a foot difference between us! He is also really skinny (whereas I'm short and more on the round side :lmao: )

Good luck finding something for your project! I have to do a presentation on something I love for the end of the semester for a class I'm taking....I think I'm going to do Disney!

We are about the same height then -- I'm 5'4.5" according to my last dr's appointment. I'm not sure why I couldn't get the extra half inch. :rotfl:

I found two articles so I'm calling it a day. ;) That's a really good idea, I'd probably choose that too because I could talk forever about it. I HATE doing presentations though, I am really shy and hate being the center of attention. :scared: Kinda helps that not ALL the attention will be on me for this presentation though.

Were we by any chance separated at birth? I despise giving presentations with every fiber of my being....Good work on finding two articles :thumbsup2

hahah I seriously think so! :lmao:

I had to give a group presentation last semester for one of my classes, and part of our grade was how we presented ourselves...we got 10/10 and I was so shocked because I thought I'd kill it with my being so nervous. I felt like it was totally obvious that I was a nervous wreck.

So tomorrow morning (early) I'm off to NYC for the weekend....I doubt I will get on tomorrow morning before we head for the airport, so have a great weekend everyone....I'll try to post pictures on Monday...

Katie isn't here to post it because she's in NYC, but I just wanted to say ...

KATIE WILL BE IN DISNEY WORLD THIS TIME NEXT WEEK!

And by the time that she gets back, she'll be able to say that she's going that week!!

Katie -- I hope you had an awesome time and I am looking forward to any pictures you have to share :goodvibes

Katie isn't home from NYC yet, but I had to add something again:

 Katie is going to Disney World this week!

I will be at work until 9 and you're probably not going to get to read this until after you get home, but I hope that you will be flying out right when I'm getting out of work :goodvibes

Oh, and my sense of time was way off when I was texting you earlier...I work at 3 and thought it was around 2:30, not 1:30. :confused3

I'm back!

We had a great time in NYC! I'll try and post some pics later today, but I have to go to class and work and do homework first....darn life getting in the way of my DIS time!

That's ok...at least you made it on time! ( you did make it on time right? :lmao: )

I'm off to class...be back later! (hopefully)

I'm glad that you made it back safe -- I got your text but I didn't want to text you back because I got it a little after 2 AM. I went to bed around 10:30-11 and then woke up at 2:15, wide awake. :confused3 I was up for about an hour and then went back to sleep. I was so confused when I woke up and it was still dark out.

I did make it to work on time yesterday :rotfl: I have no idea why my timing has been so off!

I have to do school stuff too...I don't have to go to school today but I figure that I might as well try to get ahead while I can't (won't) go anywhere.

Have a good day :goodvibes and I am looking forward to hearing about NYC!

ETA: I wanted to tell you this yesterday but I forgot -- my coworker's son is going to Disney World with his grandmother, and they're leaving on Wednesday. After I got over the initial "they're going to Disney World?!" (even though I just went last month), my next thought was, "they're going when Katie is going!" I would have loved it if we could go then so I could meet you in person!

Okay I'm REALLY going to do homework now!

So here's what I think needs to happen....You need to take next week off, use some of MeMom's Monday Millions and fly down to Disney to meet up with me...yup, thats what you need to do :thumbsup2

I was planning on posting some pics tonight, but I'm feeling a bit  ...I went to the Dr. earlier today and he said that its probably just my allergies acting up from all the gunk that I breathed in in NYC...so I have some meds to get ready for this weekend, and I'm going to go catch up on the Big Bang Theory and some sleep. I'll try to post pics tomorrow night.

That is a genius idea. I don't think my work would miss me terribly :scratchin

I think it was over on MeMom's thread that there was talk of teleporting. I would so love it I could just teleport myself there. That would be yet another form of procrastinating on my school stuff (which I did ALL day...I'm so bad)

Ok, this is going to be just a really quick rundown of our weekend in NYC. I have about a billion things that I have to do this week and not enough time to do it in. The point of this trip was to go with the Art Club (I'm VP) and come up with an exhibit for our academic festival that is in April. We had decided ahead of time that we were going to do NYC through the Artist's Eye so all of my pics are really random stuff and weird angles, not your typical touristy photos hence no pics at this point in time.

Friday 2/27

We got to the airport at about 6:15am and boy were we glad that we went early! The security line was three rows deep :scared1: Luckily they opened up spare rooms to get people through in time! Some of our group were even bussed to an alternate location to get through! We made it to our gate and only waited about 20min before they began boarding. The flight was uneventful and we arrived in NYC on time.

Once we got to the hotel check in took about 45minutes because there was some issue with us being a large group and them needing money for bellhops (who never actually touched our luggage). After getting to our rooms Patrick and I decided that we were going to go off on our own for the afternoon. So we headed to Times Square. We had lunch at this really great pizza place/deli called Carve then we headed over to the theater where The Little Mermaid on Broadway shows. We were able to get student discount tickets for that nights show for $30, front row.

After buying our tickets we decided to head out to Rockefeller Center and do some shopping there. We visited Nintendo World and the World of Disney. I bet you can guess which store I purchased stuff at :rotfl:
By this time we were getting a bit tired and hungry (again) so we headed back to the hotel to change and get ready for the show. The Little Mermaid was awesome! The ship in the opening scene is one of the coolest pieces of scenery I think I've ever seen! If you get the chance to go I highly recommend it :thumbsup2 After the show we were supposed to go to a comedy club with some friends but it was late and we were tired, so we ended up just going back to the hotel to go to bed.

Saturday 2/28

Some how we managed to get a somewhat late start each morning of the trip, but I still feel like we squeezed a lot into 3 days. Friday night before we went to bed we had made up a lose game plan to follow for the day.

We started out by taking the subway up to Central Park where we were planning on cutting through to go to the Met. Some how we managed to get lost on the curving paths but we did end up making it there. We spent a couple of hours wandering through the Met before we got a call from some friends who wanted to know if we wanted to go to Grand Central Station.

So we made our way back through Central Park to the subway and on to the hotel to meet up with them. We ended up taking a break at the hotel for a few minutes to rest up before heading to Grand Central Station (by this point just about everyone in our group of 19 had aching feet!).

We ended up eating lunch at GCS (Juniors had wonderful cheesecake :thumbsup2 ) then we split up again. Patrick and I walked around GCS for a bit then decided that we needed a couple of pictures of the Flat Iron Building, so we headed there. We literally got off of the subway walked up, took a pic, and got back on the subway to go to the hotel.

By this time it was about 6pm and we were tired. So we ended up resting at the hotel until about 8pm when we decided that we were going to go to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for dinner. It was really really good! And we only waited 15-20minutes and got a table looking out on Times Square! After dinner we went to Toys'R'Us and Virgin Megastore for a bit. We were back to the hotel and in bed by 12:30am.

Sunday 3/1

In our defense this day we were forced to get a late start. We had to meet our group at 10am to move all of our luggage to one room and go through the check out process. By the time we finished this it was almost 11!

When we got done with that we decided to go with a bunch of friends to GCS (again) for breakfast/lunch and then to MoMA. GCS was mainly uneventful and we made our way to MoMA (we would have been there a lot sooner if some members had gotten off at the stop that I told them too, but oh well).

After spending a few hours at MoMA we decided to head out on 5th Ave to FAO Swartz (sp?). They have a giant stuffed dragon that I would love to own, but I didn't feel like buying 12 plane seats to get it home, it was huge! After shopping around for a bit we made our way back to Times Square where we decided to duck into ESPN Zone and just have some appetizers before meeting up with the rest of the group to head to the airport.

We were able to make it to the airport with time to spare, but we could have taken longer. Our plane was coming in from Boston and we ended up being delayed 10minutes. When the plane finally did get there we then had to wait 40minutes to de-ice, so we were a bit late getting out of NYC. We arrived in Buffalo a bit late but otherwise fine.

That was our trip. Sorry that its not very detailed, but there really isn't much to say. Hopefully I will have more to say about Disney :lmao:

3 Days!!!!

I somehow missed this last night -- I hope you feel better soon! Charles has some sinus thing again, but this time, he's not sure if it's from his room being too dusty. :rolleyes1

It definitely sounds like you got a LOT done in NYC in the short time that you were there. I spent a day there once, the day after my birthday a few years ago, and then I went all the way there with my friend just to see Wicked, and then come home right after. :rotfl: I bet your pictures are awesome. I love photography and I love borrowing my dad's DSLR from time to time. I'm still very much an amateur but it's a fun hobby for me, and I'm really aiming to go to Boston and take pictures once the weather is nicer and there's no more snow. :headache:

It's almost two days now! :hyper: I have to say, I can't wait for you to go either so that I can play the "where in the World is Katie?" game.

I hope you feel better, and I hope you get everything done that you have to and don't feel too :scared:

Thanks for the well wishes....I'm still stuffy, but I'm on the mend...nothing that Florida sunshine and pixie dust can't cure!

So by this time tomorrow we will be loading up the van, stopping for lunch, then heading to the airport  :dance3: :cool1:

I'm hoping that we might get to the MK tomorrow night to ride Haunted Mansion since the last time we went we left like 3 days before they opened from doing the refurb. I also want to hit Pirates. Then maybe DTD for Earl of Sandwich....I've been craving their birthday cake cupcake since I had one 2.5 years ago

I don't feel like playing with photobucket today, so I apologize for these being so large. Here are a few of the pics of what inspired us in NYC...

I'm glad you're starting to feel better!

It's awesome when you can say that you hope to ride something tomorrow night. The HM is one of my absolute favorites and I love what they did with it. :lovestruc Some of the CM's there are so in to their jobs, it's crazy. This part is coming up later in the TR, but one of them scared the crap out of Kailyn. He was moving really fast and really silently, and as we were sitting in the doom buggy, Kailyn said that he was weird and I was saying, "he was really good at his job. He was really creepy but kinda cute." Then I hear Kailyn (who got in after me), going "uhhhh...AHHH!" because the guy stuck his head in our buggy RIGHT at the last second and was super close to Kailyn. As we were going in to the first room she had her hand over her mouth and she kept on making little noises, with her eyes wide, but she was smiling. I couldn't tell if she was laughing or crying...I asked her and she said "I'M DOING BOTH!" :lmao: She spent the rest of the ride holding my arm and hiding her face in my shoulder, and jumping a mile at everything...as I was dying laughing...I felt so bad but it was hysterical. :rotfl2:

PotC is also a favorite and I loved the Davey Jones part. The Jack Sparrow part goes without saying, I think.

I never saw the birthday cake cupcake at EoS...my mom asked me if I wanted to get a dessert but I was so overwhelmed by all of it that I just said no :rotfl:

I LOVE your NYC pictures. The statue is awesome, and I love the second one and the 8th one down, the buildings through the circly thing. I love how it looks like the statue is staring right at you. I attempted to do that with Lady at Pop.

You're SO CLOSE!

OK Hi I am joining in! Looks great and I can't wait to read more!! I love the NYC pics! I'm going in April and I can't wait. I used to go at least once a year for a few days but I haven't done that for three years!! Last years trip was less than 24hrs for an event LOL! How was The Little Mermaid!? I want to see it when we are there!

Trust me, when you go back to EOS try the cupcake...I'll try to take a pic of it before I dive in :rotfl:

I loved POTC when we rode it last trip. As I said, that and HM are my top two for MK...Patrick actually took the statue pic and I think that it turned out awesome...I kind of want to print it as a giant poster!

I'm stuck at work now til 4 then I have a class followed by a break and then accounting....I can't sit still, I really just want to go now!
