It is a BEAUTIFUL early summer morning here. Lots of things are blooming or just about to bloom in the gardens - and I could not resist grabbing a cup of coffee and spending a few moments in the garden enjoying the play of early morning sun on the flowers. I grabbed the camera - so I thought I would invite you all along for the stroll as well.
On the way out the door, I paused by the patio garden to look at the carpet rose that is blooming prolificly right now. This is a great plant that produces a low growing mass of flowers. It blooms prolificly several times throughout the summer. The early summer bloom is by far the most beautiful though.

The coral bells are also blooming in the patio garden. I love the bright spot of color that they add to this predominantly purple and pink garden.

Got your coffee? Okay... let's head into the main garden. The vegetable garden is doing well. Lots of rain recently means that the plants (and the weeds) are flourishing. We are heading into a much warmer and dryer forecast - so everything should take off and grow like crazy. The strawberries in the foreground are on now and YUMMY! Help yourself - we can hardly keep up with them.

The sun is just coming up and I love how it splashes on to the coreopsis and the centranthus. The garden is bathed in the morning sun.

In the corner the Hollyhocks are just about to start blooming - should be a good show this year. In front of them a spiderwort is blooming (not quite yet opened up this early in the morning) and the pincushion flowers (scabiosa).

The real gems this week in my garden are the coreopsis. They are planted next to my centranthus (which were my plant of the week last week). Here is a close up of the two together. I think it is a nice combination.

Well, it is time to go in and start getting ready for work. But I will leave the garden with one last look at the chaotic color and beauty that early summer brings.

Have a great day everyone.
