I just wanted to share our great find the other day at Goodwill. First of all, my DH is addicted to Goodwill. In cause y'all did not know, there is a VIP program there, which he is apart of. This program gives you 20% off your purchase on your 11th visit.

Well, Sat,we went to browse the store and found several Precious Moments in the box and two children digital cameras, a Vtech and Fisher Price with case. Had we bought the PM at a Hallmark store it would have cost us $175. Last time I priced the camera they were running between $35-50 a piece. Our grand total was $26.(and yes we had 20% off):rotfl:

I know many of us shop at Goodwill and other thrift stores, but I just wanted to share our great find.

Good finds!
I had great luck there last time we went, too. I found a few pairs of cargo-style shorts for ds at $2.99 a piece. He went up a size suddenly, so nothing from last summer fits at all. They were Gap and Lands End brands. I bought two pairs, but you can bet that I was kicking myself for buying a pair the week prior at Target for $12.99 !!
From now on I will check GW first.
I think that sometimes they really overprice things, but other times you can get great bargains.

I love the Goodwill. I run in there often to see if I can find some great deals. I didnt know they had a VIP program. Ill have to ask about that at mine. Thanks

I was there this morning for quarter day. Found a ton of dress clothes for my kids (they go to catholic school, so dress code calls for collared shirts, etc). Can't beat 25 cents for dress clothes that often times have only been worn a couple of times.!

Oh, I love Goodwill! I raid the store about once or twice a month and buy it out! It's the only place I can find clothes my size. (20-22). I get plenty of work/vacay clothes out of it.

one of my best finds was a bookshelf. It definatly looks handmade, and very good quality. Kari has a large selection of video game guide books, as well as game informers and nintendo powers. And magazines can get heavy fast. But this thing holds them all, and fit perfectly on the shelf. I think it cost like 70$. But I don't think we'll ever give it up.

We've definatly found our selection of clothing there. but nothing as exciting as the bookshelf.

Although it was found at the salvation army store. I find them to be much cleaner and nicer than goodwill. I went to one here and it was a total mess. clothes were in no order, just pilled up on the tables and overflowing out of boxes on the floor. I just walked right back out.

Love Goodwill both to buy and donate. Went a couple of days ago and they had several bins of Sally Hasen and Rimmell products for $1 each. Got mascara, nail polish and some Matte Mousse foundation (hopes it holds up in FL humidity). I hate it when I stop to donate and find something in the bins in back. Ours won't let you purchase until they check it through. :sad1:

quarter day?!? I thought Our Sunday dollar days were awesome...... yesterday was 1/2 price in the store, got a cute new purse...... a lot of the regular prices are too high now,so I only buy 1/2 price/dollar days stuff mostly...that is kind of sad......I've gotten DS a quite a few pairs of nice Lands End/LL bean items lately though...... I love buying stuff cheap that lasts so long I can hand it down to someone else!:goodvibes

My best thrift story was the day i rode all over town pricing a specific part for my daughter's bike. Everyone wanted 20 bucks or more. Went to thrift, they had a kids bike for 4 bucks and the part fit perfectly.

I went last week and got an IZOD sweater type thing for my husband for $3. It still had the tags on it.. I love shopping there! And thrift shopping is in!

I also got 3 $2 new looking Lands Ends uniform shirts there for my daughter for school next year... Thats exciting.. I usually pay $15 for uniform shirts that are NOT Lands End!

Our Goodwill has had the same junk for the last 4 years because no one will buy it and they truck the good stuff to a "distributing center". I know GW gets some nice stuff because it's in a fairly affluent area, but apparently we're not good enough to keep the stuff here .

The Salvation Army store on the other hand, is jam packed with clothes in all shapes and sizes. Not much in the toy/book dept, but lots of good deals on clothing. Unfortunately it's almost a half hour away, so I rarely get there.

I got a beautiful like new pair of Cole Hahn loafers for $3. On the same day I got a like new MM t shirt that I LOVE, a "Life is Good" t shirt like new, and a ladies Ralph Lauren t-shirt-each for $3. I also found a ASMu refillable mug for $1.99!

I usually don't have any luck when I go in, our Goodwills are kind of junky.

I love it too. Last time I was in I got a All Star Sports refillable mug for .50. I use it almost every day.

note to self tmrw check out the goodwill on my lunch break LOL

OOOHHHH!!! I love PM's! I've been collecting since about 1984ish. Which one did you get that was originally $175? Great find! :woohoo:
