Got the FD pin, but...

Ok, I got the FD pin, but the CM is saying I can't stay at POP and upgrade to regular dining?? Is this correct? He said that he can't upgrade a PIN, but that if I did the general offer he could upgrade me. But then he PUSHED so hard to get me to do the general offer through him...I mean I had to tell him 6 times, and just had to start laughing at the situation b/c he kept on PUSHING me to book through him. UGH! Seriously, he was asking me why I would want to go online and do my booking if he had it up on his screen ready to go?? I gave him 6 different reasons each time, and my DH was just telling me to hang up, but I'm way to polite for that. What a turd CM though!

So anyway, can I upgrade this pin or not? Has anyone had any luck? Do I just need to call back and see if I can get another CM?
 
Call back and get another CM. I booked a trip this week with a PIN and was offered the choice to upgrade to regular free dining and we are staying at POP. We chose not to do it is just the two of us and we didn't want to spend the extra $$.

Anytime you don't think you are getting the right information or are uncomfortable with a CM you can end the call and call back. You will almost always get another CM.

Strange that he was pressuring you. I have never run across that with Disney. I have been fortunate to deal with polite and helpful CMs.
 
Call back and try again. That is obnoxious. I have never dealt with that when calling Disney direct.
 
Usually they will tell you if they are getting low on availability with the PIN rooms, but if so, he should have said that. Even when CMs have said this in the past, it's usually taken one "no" and they drop it. Maybe he's new, and his old job was for the CC companies, trying to get you to add credit protection. Or he sold timeshares in a past life. ;)
 

Call back.. the guy sounds dishonest or clueless.

Could be the same guy I got the other day. I wanted to apply the PIN to my existing reservation and he pretended he wasnt sure if he could do it, so I had to walk him through it... seriously. Then, I had to explain to him how to apply it to my brothers reservation. With this guy, absolutely nothing was possible. He followed everything I asked for with "IF we can... not sure you can do that." Worst CM I have ever encountered.
 
Well I called back, and didn't even mention upgrading my dining plan. This CM said NO values are available for the month of October going Saturday to Saturday, except using the general public free dining 10/2-10/9. SIGH. I really wanted the 16th through the 23rd. I might try calling back again in a bit, see if anything has changed. Surely 3 days after this pin is out ALL of the values aren't booked up?? I'm trying to do a budget trip, and I don't think we can work a moderate into the budget.

As far as the previous CM, I'm never encountered such bad service! I wish I would have stayed on the line to complete the survey to say how awful he was. I've never been pushed by such a salesmen before! He asked 6 times why I wouldn't just go ahead and book with him. I gave him the replies that the only reason I was calling him was b/c I had a pin and I couldn't do it online, that I was Type A personality, that I just didn't need him to do that, that I'd rather use my CC on the Disney site than with him, and that I just didn't want to use him....I used the last one b/c he was on my last nerve! I was trying to be nice and polite, but he was pushing me beyond my boundaries.
 
First, We were able to upgrade ours by paying the difference. We are staying at POP 21st to 28th. Originally we were having to do a room only night. But with the pin, we were able to get the full package. And able to do the upgrade.
Second, When I talked to my TA about the pin, she told me she had been on the phone that same day looking for a room for the 22-28th. She said at that time there was nothing left but WL. So, it's sounding like a really busy time. But could you move your dates a little. do thurs to thursday or something?
 
Shew...finally! Apparently the 3rd time is the charm! I did have a bit of a wait while the CM 'tried' to get it to work, but he finally did get it! I will say the general offer was once again 'offered' to me over my preferred dates, but he did finally get the upgrade to the 1TS, 1 CS, 1 snack plan to work. YIPPEE!! And we are staying at POP! I really never thought it would be that much work. I guess it just goes to show if you don't get what you want, try, try again!

Thanks for the help and comments. It gave me the reason to continue calling until I got the right CM :-)
 
You can also upgrade your free QSDP to the regular DDP online, so it's easy to check availability and also the cost of upgrading. I'm not sure why the OP was told it wasn't possible, but I"m glad it worked out!---Kathy

That's total crap because I booked a room at Pop for my brother today. The CM originally booked it on our dates (16-24) and it went through before she realized she had inputted their arrival date as ours instead of my brother, and changed him to 20th-24th, with no problem.
