got the big brush off from my guide

Ok, I'm new at this, but here's my story.....

I got assigned a guide (bought resale) called and asked about BCV add on and was told no and they weren't getting any anytime soon. I told him that I have a Feb. use year and that a member of the disboards just got an add on (because he said that there wasn't any BCV for a long time ...)

and then the push for SSR. I said no. Asked about waitlist... Told no.... Asked if he could keep me on a list for BCV and he said he has 1600+members and was too busy.
That's ok, I understand. I asked when I should call back to check on if there were any points in - he said not to call him for atleast 6 months!
Should I go resale? Or is there another route? Is this normal for DVC?

I'd call and talk to a supervisor or better yet, look for a resale.

Yuck. Was he rude or was it just a brush off? Either way is not good, but rude would be even worse.

I wonder if this is the guide who someone else reported as being high pressure?
If so, I wonder if he used to be a 'regular' high pressure timeshare salesman.

It was a brush off. I did a search for him here and somebody had used him for more than 6 years, so he's been around.
Are there other guides that would take my info and CC# and keep me in mind for an add on or is this not done anymore?
I'm so confused
and, could somebody check with their guide to see if there's any BCV Feb. use years left. I know somebody posted them today. I'm not sure that he even checked......

A few months ago, I called about an add on at VB. My guide was out of town for a few weeks. Another guide told me there was nothing available.

I called back the next day and spoke to someone else and there were points available.

I think the way they do the waitlist has changed recently. It might be worth it to call back and say you are ready now with CC in hand and see what he says. You also have the option of asking for someone else if he keeps giving you the brush off.

That's awful!!! I think you should definitely speak to a supervisor and ask to be assigned to a new guide!!! Some people on these boards have had WONDERFUL experiences with guides, why should yours be any less wonderful!! If you are comfortable, could you PM me who this is? I am new to DVC, also bought resale (still pending RofR), and would love to know if you and I have the same guide. We will be adding on, and I would rather know sooner than later if I need to switch (if you are not comfortable, I understand).

Call the main DVC number, and insist on speaking with a supervisor. Don't take no for an answer, because they will try to have your guide call you back.

I had been on a waitlist for add-on points for 1 1/2 years, always told no points were available, but after 3 people on this site got points at the resort I wanted, and they had begun after me, that was it! I insisted on speaking with a supervisor, who said he would look into it. 24 hours later they called with up to 190 points!!

I hardly understand how having 1600 members has any bearing on the matter and the method of response to the OP. It isn't like they interact with even a small percentage of their database on a daily, weekly, monthly, or I dare say yearly basis. If the guide only has SSR to sell, and the current member isn't interested, the guide should be glad to make the sale if the requested inventory becomes available. What was the purpose of DVC assigning your resale a "guide" in the first place, if not for future add-ons?

Thanks for all you replies! I'm going to contact MS tomorrow and speak to a Supervisor and get a new guide.

Anybody have a guide out there that will hold a cc for BCV points?

Sounds likely he's giving you the cold shoulder because you bought resale, fortunately a rare occurance with DVC.
