Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Happy Mother's Day CP!
Would it be too much to ask for more pics of your countdown calendar? I'm too lazy to do my own and since we are leaving the same day I was hoping to just use yours. :rotfl:

Thank you! I hope your five children and DH are treating you like royalty today.

:rotfl: You are too funny -- I will take a current pic just for you!

Happy Mother's Day Jackie!:flower3:
Can't wait to see more pics!

Thank you, Wigd! Did Shocker and Baylor treat you to breakfast in bed this morning?

I am getting ready to update right now! :goodvibes

Happy Mother's Day to everyone celebrating today! I hope you all have a fabulous day!

Finishing up Animal Kingdom, there are some food items and shopping that must also be done.

Shopping
Serka Kong Gift Shop: We love the Everest gift shop -- it is so much fun to see all the Yeti items that we could bring home. I will never forget Connor looking at a pair of Yeti slippers and being aghast at the price, which he was sure to share with everyone within listening range, "$22! $22 for a pair of Yeti feet!!! That is ridiculous!!!"

Mombasa Marketplace: My favorite gift shop in Walt Disney World. I just love all the uniquely African items they have for sale here.

Food
Tusker House: We are eating here again -- we love the breakfast buffet and seeing the characters in their safari costumes.

Pizzafari: We have never eaten here but are hoping to try it this year. I want to try the Italian sandwich.

Dawa Bar: Saw a drink menu from here the other day, and I am pretty sure I need to sample the Lost on Safari!

I finally scanned some pictures of our first trip to Animal Kingdom in 2007.

The first time we stepped foot into the park was the first night we were there, and it was an EMH night. We headed for Dinoland where we rode Dinosaur twice -- we love this ride, ate dinner at Restaurantsaurus, Connor played in the Boneyard, and Chelsea and Charles rode Primeval Whirl. We got such a huge kick out of the kitschy atmosphere all around us. We also managed to ride Kali River Rapids which was a blast and the ONLY time we have never been soaked on the ride, but the line for EE was so long we skipped it.

We had another day at Animal Kingdom, and that was the day we had breakfast at Tusker House (when it was still a counter service), rode the safari for the first time, and then rode EE with FPs. Connor and I were hestitant to ride -- we had been very excited about it before the trip, but when we first laid eyes on it, I will admit that both of us blanched a bit. It took a lot for us to get up the nerve to ride it -- part of it was Charles telling us we couldn't have stuffed Yetis unless we rode it. Connor loved it, and I liked it -- what I saw of it (I closed my eyes after the first Yeti shadow). ;) We got our Yetis though.

My favorite picture from that trip to Animal Kingdom was taken while we rested. One minute our children were sitting nicely, sipping on drinks, and the next minute they had suddenly become howler monkeys!

Then, Chelsea posed.

I just realized that four weeks from today we will actually be at Animal Kingdom! Woo hoo!

Yeah - 4 weeks and you will be there!!

Those pictures are soo cute - I was also hesitant to ride EE the first time but now it's my favorite ride there!!

Have a great Mother's Day!

I can't believe how much Connor and Chelsea have grown up!

Of course you know I love the monkey picture. :lmao:

How cute, about Connor with the price of Yeti feet!

Connor and Chelsea were such cute little monkeys! I would have loved to have heard his indignation over the price of Yeti feet!

Isn't is amazing how fast they grow?

Love the update! The monkey picture is priceless. Good for you braving EE. I think I'll have to sit it out with Ian, which is too bad because I really want to ride..:rolleyes1

What a great picture of them hanging like monkeys!:thumbsup2 Great update Jackie and WOO HOO for 4 weeks!! I really need to stop and soak in that kitchy atmosphere, we are always blazing through there to get to Dinosaur! Have you ever had the Yak Attack at Yak and Yeti? It is AWESOME!!:goodvibes

happy mother's day!!!
Hope you have a wonderful relaxing day.

Love the pics. Boy, they have grown so much in the last 2 years.

Great pictures! I wish my scanner worked.. I would share pics from old trips. oh well.

I wasn't going to pick out certain things from restaurants but after I looked at the menus.. I want to! hehe

I am soo excited about EE and going to the shop.

YAY for 4 weeks!

I really love AK !!!!

We've eaten at Pizzafari in 2007 (I think) and really liked it. But I think Disney pizza good anyways. We had an early lunch so we practically had a whole dinning room to ourselves so it was cool and quiet.

Love the updates! C&C look like they are such good friends (when not fighting over the countdown calendar :rolleyes1 ). You have such a lovely family! The monkey pics are adorable!

I have not yet fully explored the shopping that is to be had in AK. Must fix that this trip. And if you can believe it, I have not even perused the Dawa bar menu. :scared1: Going to go google that right now! You'll have to promise to have one for me while you're there! ;)

Pizzafari: We have never eaten here but are hoping to try it this year. I want to try the Italian sandwich.

There are plenty of photo ops in Pizzafari. Aside from the walls, be sure to notice the paintings on the chairs.

Four weeks from now....that's sounding really close, isn't it? By this time four weeks from now, after a fun day with your own two howler monkeys and assorted other creatures you may be resting your tired legs on a soft bed at an incredible resort!

Thank you! I can't say that Everest is one of my favorites, but I do love the theming, and I think it is such a clever concept! As far as roller coasters go, it is one of the few I can handle. We will ride it again!

Happy Mother's Day! And great photos- thank you!

Thank you! I hope you had a great Mother's Day, Julia! Did the pictures help you in your Animal Kingdom decision making?

I can't believe how much Connor and Chelsea have grown up!

Of course you know I love the monkey picture. :lmao:

I can't believe how much they have grown, either! That was only two years ago!

I knew you would appreciate my monkeys -- I love that picture so much it is framed and sitting on our nightstand -- I think it just captures how much fun we have at Disney.

When he was espousing disgust at the high price at the age of seven, I was laughing out loud.

Connor and Chelsea were such cute little monkeys! I would have loved to have heard his indignation over the price of Yeti feet!

Isn't is amazing how fast they grow?

I wish I had it on video! He was so disgruntled -- apparently he had wanted a pair of slippers shaped like Yeti feet! :lmao:

It is amazing how fast they grow -- I don't even want to think about what they will look like in two more years with Chelsea thirteen and Connor eleven!

:sunny: Hello CP! Happy Mother's Day to you! :sunny:

Thank you! Hope you had a great Mother's Day with your boys! :goodvibes

Love the update! The monkey picture is priceless. Good for you braving EE. I think I'll have to sit it out with Ian, which is too bad because I really want to ride..:rolleyes1

Thank you! Have you read up about the baby swap yet? I don't know all the details, but I believe you get a special pass so that you can ride after your DH rides or vice versa -- so you could ride it if you really wanted to do so. :thumbsup2

I was reading a thread where someone commented on how terrible dinoland was. They thought it looked cheap and carnival like and just not up to the standards of Disney. I just thought HELLO, like everything else in Disney, it is incredibly well themed and kitschy IS the theme here!! I loved it too

Thank you! We always seem to be blazing somewhere so one of my goals for this trip is to really slow down! When we ate at Yak and Yeti I had an Avalanche which was also very good -- I will have to remember to try a Yak Attack. :thumbsup2

happy mother's day!!!
Hope you have a wonderful relaxing day.

Love the pics. Boy, they have grown so much in the last 2 years.

I did have a great day, thank you! What about you?

They are growing up too, too quickly.

Great pictures! I wish my scanner worked.. I would share pics from old trips. oh well.

YAY for 4 weeks!

Thank you! Beware of those menus -- you will find yourself drooling over them a lot! :lmao: The shop is so cool -- one of the best ride stores on property!

I really love AK !!!!

I really love AK, too! We tend to eat early so I am looking forward to a nice, quiet meal. I am glad to hear you liked your meal there!

Thank you! They do tend to get along pretty well -- they fight more now than they ever have before -- I think it is because Chelsea is a middle schooler.

You must shop at AK in September! I insist! ;)

Here is the link to the menu I found on another thread:

All the pictures I have seen from Pizzafari are so neat with all the animals on the walls -- I will be sure to check out the chairs as well!

That's too funny that you said that about four weeks from now -- earlier this evening Charles and I were talking, and I said, "Four weeks from this exact moment we will be at Animal Kingdom. Well, actually, we probably won't still be there -- you will be back at the hotel room (he goes to bed pretty early), and the kids and I will be headed to the Magic Kingdom."

I think some people miss that Dinoland is supposed to look like a roadside carnival. :sad2: There are so many hilarious touches throughout though.
