Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

You're so creative, Jackie! I loved all the elf happenings this week! Do you mind if I borrow some of your ideas?

Oh - the finished product on your gingerbread house is awesome! It looks sweet - get it? SWEET! :rotfl: It's hard being so punny!

Back to the house - did you use a kit, or did you actually bake up the gingerbread yourself? It looks fresh.

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I love your pun!

Borrow away! The gingerbread came pre-made -- the kit was from Target and had everything ready to go: gingerbread pieces, frosting, candy, and a base. It was so easy and painless.

I guess I should have stated it more clearly - Brooklynn and I will be making treats this coming weekend. This weekend, they had their church party in AL. Jill reports that as part of the singing/sharing Brooklynn did a little performance (with the microphone, no less) of Twinkle, Twinkle, Christmas Star with a little Feliz Navidad following.

That cake and frosting you showed is one of the exact treats we will be making, too! Nice and easy, and everything you need right at your fingertips.

Sounds like the elves have had a busy week. I could have used their energy at my house in helping me change over the den from summer (Old Key West) to winter (Wilderness Lodge). Yes, it is December, and I am just getting it changed over. I have been so busy and/or it has been to cold to go into the attic, but yesterday, it all worked out well for me to get up there and drag down all the lodge stuff. The boys helped me get the stuff down, but wanted no part in helping me decorate.

The gingerbread house is awesome! I love the gumdrop eyes on the one gingerbread person! You guys did a great job, and I know you had a fun time doing that little project together. I'd say there's a future for both kids at the Grand Floridian gingerbread house someday!

I'm with Connor about eating the house! I was going to buy one at Walmart this weekend but then I was like...."I can't eat it, why bother?" Sad I know. So I'm going to bake gingerbread cookies that we can decorate and eat!

Those elves are so very cute. I really think that is a great tradition that you do. :goodvibes

Marc & I bought a gingerbread tree to assemble and decorate. I am pretty excited about it!

Connor has been trying to eat the gingerbread house all week, and he is nine! :rotfl:

I can't even tell you about the fiasco (albeit a fun one) we had yesterday putting our house together. My poor little nugget wanted all that candy. It was too darn funny. Oddly enough though, now that the house is together, he will not take candy off of it. I guess I have that going for me. :lmao:

Good thing I saved some candy on the side. ;)

The gingerbread house looks lovely. I didn't have the chance to do one with the nieces this year, but we had a ball last year doing them. I always get a kick out of seeing how they like to decorate.

I love the gingerbread house, Jackie! And yeah, my kids are asking me every day when they get to smash and eat it.

I make them wait until January since we celbrate Christmas until 1/6 - I really DO abuse my kids don't I?!

You will have to tell me what sort of mischief Martin gets into over the next couple of weeks!

So far Martin hasn't gotten into any trouble. He's just exploring the girls' toys for now. Last night he took the little pull behind puppy for a walk. Tonight - which I almost forgot to do until I checked the DISboards - he is riding our big Donkey doll from Shrek. DD5 was very excited that Martin tried taking the puppy for a walk while he was alive last night. DD2 could have cared less! :rotfl: I was going to take pictures last night, but DH pointed out that I'd be done for if the girls catch the pictures somewhere before they've found him. How do you do it? Do the kids let you take the pictures before they touch them?

I do think I freaked out DD5 a bit with Martin. I told her that he comes alive at night to explore the human world. She said something about not wanting him coming into her room while she was sleeping. She slept on the floor in our room last night. I think it was due to the strong winds howling outside, but I wonder if the elf coming alive might have played into that too. :confused3

I have finally finished! :cool1: I love your PTR. I will be at WDW for my birthday on May 22-29. It is our first stay on site thanks to the 4/3 deal. Have a great night.

Charles celebrated his 39th birthday yesterday, so I have decided to mark the occasion in my own unique PTR way by writing about his evolution into a Disney fan (although I am sure he would still deny it).

We met in 1993 and two years later began talking about marriage. Well, it suddenly dawned on me that perhaps we should do a trial run to my favorite place to make sure that we were compatible.

I don’t actually remember all that much from the trip except for a few things. It was August, it was hot, and we stayed at the Polynesian. I remember Charles complaining A LOT. We ate at Mama Melrose’s. I don’t think Charles enjoyed the trip one bit. I forgave him, and we got married.

Three years later in April of 1998 we went with my parents, my brother, and Chelsea who was nine months old at the time. Charles wasn’t thrilled on that trip either. He left halfway through World Showcase and went back to the hotel room. He left after half a day at Disney-MGM, and I rode the Tower of Terror for the first and only time with my brother. Charles has still not forgotten that I rode it without him.

Here we are with just Chelsea:

In December of 2004 (yes, there was a long Disney Drought in our lives) we headed back to the world with his mother, her boyfriend, his sister, her husband, their two kids, and our two kids. We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and toured commando-style. This was the trip where I cried putting my tennis shoes on in the morning because my feet were so sore. Charles left halfway through World Showcase again. He refused to do Magic Kingdom on our last day. The love for Disney was sadly lacking in his life.

He did ride the Tower of Terror on that trip with his sister, her son, Chelsea and Connor. I did not.

In March of 2007 I decided it was time to return to the World with just us four. I woke Charles up and asked if I could book a Disney trip. In his sleep-deprived state he gave in. We had a great time, but he still maintained that he couldn’t really stand Disney World. He claimed that while he had a good time, it was only because the rest of us had such a great time. He did discover a new love on that trip. Her name was Boma.

Charles and Chelsea ride the carrousel:

In October of 2007, I “convinced” him – I thought I was convincing, now I think he was just playing hard to get – to go back for our anniversary and Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Upon entering the Magic Kingdom Charles said, “Let’s get our picture in front of the castle. We don’t have any pictures of all of us in front of the castle.” Was the façade cracking?

Our first castle photo as a family:

Those of you that have been around for awhile remember the famous “Let’s go to Disney World for Spring Break, 2008.” I was sick and in a joking way said, “I might feel better if we went to Disney over Spring Break.” Charles very quickly said, “Okay.” Was Anti-Disney Man evolving into something else entirely???

Then there was June, 2008 – with an extra day thrown into the mix. Was the cracking façade becoming a fault line?

We returned from our summer trip, and for all intents and purposes, I think Charles has morphed into something else entirely. Here are some examples (I have been keeping mental notes):

1.When we talked about an October trip he said to me, “Can we stay at the Contemporary in a Magic Kingdom view room?” I picked my jaw off the floor after that one.

2.Charles insisted I book our June 2009 package the day the packages were released because “it would be bad luck not to.” Who are you???

3.We got a glossy brochure from the new Bay Lake Towers – he whined all night about wanting to buy into DVC. DVC? You know that means 50 years of Disney vacations???

4.The Stay Four, Get Three Free discount came out and Charles declared his preference for the Beach Club. “We would kick ourselves if we didn’t.” Right. Not arguing with you there.

5.Hundreds of little things – looking at photos on the DIS, examining menus and having opinions, asking if we could have an adult-night out while we are down there.

If Charles is no longer Anti-Disney Man, then what has he evolved into???
This is a really cute story. Mine is a little similar but didn't last as long.. and actually as soon as we got there the first time... hes loved it ever since.. I'm glad he is changing!! hehe

Oh those elves, always causing trouble! I can't believe they even followed Chelsea and Connor to their grandmother's house! :rotfl2:

Oooh! I would make a mess like that for Life cereal too! It is my fave!:cool1: LOVE the gingerbread house, looks so festive! I am glad you got to ship those elves off for a night, so you could have a peaceful nights sleep!:thumbsup2

Just saying "hi" to a fellow Carissa! Not a name I run into often. :goodvibes

Hello! Plus - you even spell your name correctly! :rotfl:

What's the worst your name has been butchered? I think my favorite was a bill I received where she must have had her left hand off one key. She typed my name as Vistidds! I'm sure you've been called Clarissa & Charissa more times that you can count! :lmao:

Yes, the Clarissa use to drive me nuts. I guess it still does, but not as much. I use to hate my name when I was younger because no one could say it or spell it. But, over the years I have come to appreciate its uniqueness. :rotfl:

Hey Jackie, how are you!!!!?????

Gonna check up on you every so often! I am hoping for a Sept 2009 trip to try free DDP(if offered!)-it's the only way I'll be tempted to get it ever again- gotta try it out first! And free is good for me!

IF we are able to go(depends on DH's job status), we'll book soon as free DDP is offered.

Maybe I'll start a "Impossibly POSSIBLE PTR"! (due to the above in parentheses!) I can dream, I can plan, I can plan our dream! My girls are quite them same in thier anticipation and excitement/enthusiasm of all things Disney. I LOVE brainwashing my children!!!

Hiya! Was just checking through my TRs and realized yours was done but I found this link in it! So here I am.... ready to go!

We are finally out for winter break! Woo hoo! I am very excited and looking forward to the next 16 days! Hopefully I will be able to have some serious DIS time during it!

Are Jill, John, and Brooklyn staying through Christmas? I bet Brooklyn was adorable singing -- we need a video of that!

That cake and frosting you showed is one of the exact treats we will be making, too! Nice and easy, and everything you need right at your fingertips.

It was very easy. We also used some other Christmas sprinkles that I had bought -- we are big sprinkle users at our house. We have some for every holiday. Anything we can put sprinkles on, we generally do.

Sounds like the elves have had a busy week. I could have used their energy at my house in helping me change over the den from summer (Old Key West) to winter (Wilderness Lodge). Yes, it is December, and I am just getting it changed over. I wish the elves would help me wrap presents...hmmm...

The gingerbread house is awesome! I love the gumdrop eyes on the one gingerbread person! You guys did a great job, and I know you had a fun time doing that little project together. I'd say there's a future for both kids at the Grand Floridian gingerbread house someday!

Connor was very proud of his gumdrop eyes. Of course, being Connor he promptly told us it was a Zombie Gingerbread Man. :rotfl:

Our elf brought the same gingerbread house kit! ;)

How did yours turn out?

I'm with Connor about eating the house! I was going to buy one at Walmart this weekend but then I was like...."I can't eat it, why bother?" Sad I know. So I'm going to bake gingerbread cookies that we can decorate and eat!

:rotfl: He hasn't mentioned eating it much this week -- maybe as it hardens and gets dusty, the appeal is fading.

Those elves are so very cute. I really think that is a great tradition that you do. :goodvibes

Marc & I bought a gingerbread tree to assemble and decorate. I am pretty excited about it!

I saw your photos of it on your PTR -- I think it turned out great!

I can't even tell you about the fiasco (albeit a fun one) we had yesterday putting our house together. My poor little nugget wanted all that candy. It was too darn funny. Oddly enough though, now that the house is together, he will not take candy off of it. I guess I have that going for me. :lmao:

Lucky! Your DS does love candy! ;)

The gingerbread house looks lovely. I didn't have the chance to do one with the nieces this year, but we had a ball last year doing them. I always get a kick out of seeing how they like to decorate.

I love doing things like that with Chelsea and Connor -- they are so creative (aren't all kids?) ;)

I love the gingerbread house, Jackie! And yeah, my kids are asking me every day when they get to smash and eat it.

I make them wait until January since we celbrate Christmas until 1/6 - I really DO abuse my kids don't I?!

I have a funny story about Kings' Day for you, Lara. The other day at Connor's school they had Christmas Around the World. Connor came home and at dinner said, "Mom, on January 6th you will need to ante up three more presents to celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings." In between laughing at his use of the word "ante," I managed to gasp out, "Sorry, Connor, since we are neither Hispanic nor Catholic, you are out of luck."

So far Martin hasn't gotten into any trouble. He's just exploring the girls' toys for now. Last night he took the little pull behind puppy for a walk. How has DD5 been doing lately?

I take photos as soon as I get up in the morning before the kids wake up. That way the time stamp doesn't give me away.
