Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Too cute. We also have two dogs already and I'm constantly going over the ads 'cuz I want another one! But I'll also live through you because DH does a pretty good job of being the voice of reason on this one!

Congrats on Nala! How are your two other dogs taking to her?

Pretty well, all things considered. Quick background -- we got Bella two years ago from the pound -- she was three at the time. She has been spoiled rotten the entire time she has been with us and is very possessive of all of us. Even at 60 pounds, she thinks she is a lap dog. She also has no tolerance of any small creatures. Tabasco is 11 and every bit our cranky old man dog.

I was concerned how they would react to Nala. Charles said it would be fine since she was a dog and they would be able to tell she was a dog.

Bella is all excited -- jumping and sniffing and wagging her tail all the time when Nala is around. Tabasco also likes her and last night came and laid down beside her and let her lick his nose. Bella still concerns me because she gets all excited. I know once Nala is bigger and can hold her own, it will be fine, but for right now, I am like a nervous mama hovering any time they are together.

Charles was supposed to be my voice of reason. :headache:

Congrats on Nala! My inlaws just got a puppy and they named him Cooper. I have to admit I am not a huge dog fan. I love, love, love puppies and I love other people's dogs but I don't want one much to Marc's chagrin. I wish they stayed puppy size and then I would consider it. :lmao:

Tell Chelsea she does not get to hang out with Bo in June for forgetting the camera! :rotfl2:

Nala has had an exciting entry into our home. Our two dogs, Bella and Tabasco, can hardly leave her alone, and Chelsea and Connor aren't much better.

We decided to keep Nala mostly confined to the playroom until I can take her to the vet this morning. She is only four weeks old, and I am sure that she has worms and other fun puppy things. We love our vet, so I am looking forward to Dr. Moore working his magic today.

Last night, one of my good friends, Kim, brought her husband and girls to meet Nala. Her parents used to own a pet store, and I asked her about a million questions. She made me feel a lot better about my decision to bring Nala home. She just fell in love with her, and as Kim said, "I can totally understand why your heart melted when you saw her."

When it was bedtime, Chelsea took Bella off to bed in her room, and Charles brought Nala out. Well, I went to bed, and at about 4:00 in the morning, Charles came to bed. I woke up when he did, so I got to hear all about his adventures during the night.

I guess Bella knew that Nala was out and about, and he let her out. She sniffed Nala for a long time and then went back to sleep. Tabasco came and laid down beside Nala, and let her lick his nose. Ahhhh.

At about 2:00, Charles said he was exhausted. Now this was the part that made me laugh. He has always had a huge heart where dogs are concerned -- I should have remembered that when I called him from Walmart yesterday. Anyway, I asked him why he didn't put Nala back in the playroom at 2:00 and come to bed. Here is what he said to me, "She wanted me to hold her. I sat holding her while she slept for two hours." That cracked me up -- my big, tough hubby sitting there with Nala all wrapped in a blanket while she slept.

Then, as I was falling back asleep Charles said, "I am really nervous about the vet visit." I asked him why and he said, "Because I don't want anything to be wrong with her. We really bonded last night." Is that not the cutest thing EVER?

I don't think I am near the dog person that the rest of the family is -- I adore them when they are sweet, sleeping puppies, but other than that, I am not quite as gaga as the rest of the gang.

I should tell Chelsea that... I am so mad everytime I think about it -- I still have the nice camera, but of course, that does not produce instant pictures. :headache:

Awwww, Charles is just a big ol' softie! He loves Disney and puppies. Hehehe. That is just the cutest thing ever. I can't believe he stayed up with her that late! :goodvibes

Awwww!

Your Disney' lovin' hubby is also a puppy softie! :goodvibes

You just need a teacup doggie, LL! Like a maltese, or a mini-yorkie!

Oh and don't deprive Chelsea of her Beloved Bo!!

:lmao: That's so adorable! Man, Charles' work friends must NEVER KNOW all that us DIS-ers do! :rotfl2: Such a softie! Disney fan, Family man, Puppy lover..... SOOOOO not a tough-man! :cool2:

wow Jackie, just got all caught up again.... 3 dogs !!! Can't wait to see pictures when you can post... My kids would go crazy over a puppy, that is all they keep asking for... When we told the kids about the babies, the first thing Emma said was she didn't want a baby she wanted a puppy!

Hope the "training" goes well and not to much to worry about from the vet...

Merry Christmas!

I have a funny story about Kings' Day for you, Lara. The other day at Connor's school they had Christmas Around the World. Connor came home and at dinner said, "Mom, on January 6th you will need to ante up three more presents to celebrate the arrival of the Three Kings." In between laughing at his use of the word "ante," I managed to gasp out, "Sorry, Connor, since we are neither Hispanic nor Catholic, you are out of luck."

Alright, I seriously just snorted out loud, Jackie! That is the funniest thing ever!

Tell Connor that when I finally meet him, I'll tote his gifts from the Magi... and make him look up Magi. :rotfl:

Oh, how cute!!! We have a full inn at 3 dogs and a rabbit but that never stops us from taking my brother's 3 dogs and rabbit on top of that. Animals are a wonderful addition to any house. And what a lovely name. Can't wait to see pictures and here's hoping that Nala's a healthy puppy. :wizard:

I finally caught up again. That's so awesome that you got a puppy! I also have a huge soft spot where dogs are concerned, so I would not have been the voice of reason, either.

I can't wait to see pictures and I hope that the vet visit goes well!

Hopefully Charles isn't going for a tough guy image, because you just ruined it!:goodvibes

If you move overseas, are you planning on getting one there? Or just waiting until all the traveling is finished?

We would probably get one overseas. It's easier bringing a pet back to the states. Other countries tend to have stricter quarrantine laws which makes things very pricey.

Your hubby is a keeper. ;)

Awwwwww! Yayyy for a new puppy! :yay: I am such a dog lover and so jealous of you, 3 dogs! Not saying I don't love my little pup to death but still, 3 is way better than one. My BF and I want a pitbull sooo badly but we don't have a place to house one as neither of our parents will allow another dog in our house...I think I'll have to come live with you then :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see pictures and, I have a friend with a bulldog named Nala. I think that was a great choice for a name. That is adorable that Charles "bonded" with her! So cute!:lovestruc :cutie:

Hope the vet went well:goodvibes

Jackie---CONGRATS on the new addition to the family!!! I bet she is PRECIOUS!!! Can't wait for pictures! Your news made me laugh though---because it once again reminded me how often I feel we are alike---we are in the process of acquiring Megan's first puppy---it will be a Malti-poo, or something VERY close to that. We almost picked one up last Wednesday night but decided it would be best for us to wait until after the hustle and bustle of Christmas---we will be gone too much for our liking in consideration to potty training a puppy........so we wrapped up a box of Milkbones with a picture of a Malti-poo on it, and we are going to tell her that she gets to help us pick out a dog----YES, there will be video of her reaction......and OF COURSE, I will share!!!! Congrats on Nala!
