I traded our timeshare for DVC for next September, 1 week in BCV and 1 week in OKW. How do I go about arranging DME when the time comes, booking ADRs, adding the kids on our reservation and adding DDP, online check in? Is my RCI reservation number also my DVC reservation number? Is there any way to pull up and verify my reservation online? I saw a thread where people have "lost" their reservations during the recent upgrades so I'm starting to get paranoid.

I imagine you would have to contact RCI to set up these items for you through Disney, but not absolutely sure.

When you get your documents from RCI related to the trade, you will find a telephone number for MS. You would call MS to arrange DME, & the DDP. They will also give you the DVC reservation number and that is what you need to take advantage of the 180 + 10 perk for making ADRs and to look up your reservation online. You'd do that via www.MyDisneyReservation.com/DVC.

Don't worry. There may be some glitches due to the new reservation system, but they will get corrected soon and are unlikely to effect your RCI trade anyway.

Congrats on getting the trades and have fun planning!

Carol gave you the lowdown. The only thing to add: it takes about a week (sometimes two) for RCI to let Member Services know about each confirmed exchange. So, give it a little while before you call. When you do call the 800 number, follow the prompts for Member Services (currently Option 1), and then the World Passport Collection (currently Option 4).

It's been a few weeks already. RCI hasn't sent me anything other than my email confirmation. Thanks for all the info!

If it has been a few weeks, DVC has you in their system. Call MS and you will be able to get your DVC reservation number and all will be fine. We just stayed at OKW for a week in a two bedroom under a trade in from my FIL RCI points and all went very smoothly for us.

RCI only sends an email confirmation. Within the email confirmation you should see the 800 #.
Look in the Resort Profile Section in the email confirmation under "To Help You Further"

"...US$95 Fee MANDATORY per unit/per week......Must RSVP prior to arrival. Includes shuttle/bag service from airport.Exchanges call: 800/800-xxxx"

Hey guys, first time on the boards. My fiancee's mother traded her Hilton points through RCI for a week at OKW for our honeymoon in July (followed by a 7-night cruise), and I just had a quick question. Is the $95 mentioned above in addition to the $95 charged for all people when checking in at a DVC resort? I was under the impression that this amount was charged regardless of whether a guest used DME or not.

Welcome, wizards8507 and congratulations on your wedding! All DVC guests booked as inbound exchange through RCI will be charged the $95 fee. It is charged only once. You are correct -- it will be charged without regard to using or not using Magical Express.

You will find varying reasons for the $95. None of them actually hold much water, because only inbound exchangers pay it, and the only thing an inbound exchanger gets that any other on-property guest would not is the ability to speak to Member Services directly regarding a DVC reservation not made with the inbound's own points.

Even if you call a couple of times, those are some pretty expensive phone calls.

As to why Disney charges it? Because they can, and people will pay it.

My DFiL has Hilton, how many Hilton points did you use for a 1 bedroom? Wondering because we (DH and I own DVC ) will be in Orlando Oct. we will be staying at BCV and the rest of the family may be at HGVSW. They were wondering what the exchange rate was. Thanks.

I believe it was 2400 points, which is the same year-round and for all DVC properties because DVC properties are considered "Peak" season all year. It can be a challenge to get the exchange you specifically want (i.e. Animal Kingdom Lodge is just about impossible), but if you're open to all DVC resorts, you're extremely likely to get something. There's also an exchange fee charged by RCI and, if I remember correctly, it was right around $175.

HGVSW would not be available for trade into DVC because of it's location.

Thanks, I am going to relay that to DFiL. They visited our resort last year. They loved it . It would be fun if they could stay with us at BCV this year. Have a wonderful time.

For whatever reason, home resort doesn't matter with HGVC. It's treated as one club, and owners there can exchange in no matter where their underlying deed is located.

At least, that's what various and sundry HGVC owners consistently report. YMMV.

Thank you for that , I am hoping he will do this.:teacher:

DVC normally gets you in they system the next Tuesday after the exchange. The phone number is the exchange email for one side (weeks or points) but not the other. I forget which for sure but I think it's the points side that does not give you the phone number. The $95 fee is essentially used by DVC to pay for the exchange system. The fee does not provide ANY service that would not have been provided to the member had they not exchanged.
