Got DVC mailing today about APs...

I thought this was odd. It was a DVC mailing reminding me to renew my AP before my anniversary date so I can get the DVC renewal discount. Interesting that they know when my AP expiration date is. I bought them last June online, before DVC even had any AP discounts. So obviously they share information with each other. :confused3

Regardless, I still think it is better to pay the little extra and wait to get new APs. Not enough of a difference in the renewal price and new AP price to justify going ahead with it now. We'll wait.

We'll end up doing that too.

I sure hope that Disney doesn't read these boards.... They may just increase the price gap between purchase and renewal.

While we don't currently have APs, we did get a DVC mailing today describing the "Most Magical Discount" on APs. Thought it was odd that the return address was DVC - Georgia??

Well that is interesting, I do currently have an AP, but my mailing just informed me of the DVC AP discount, it was not a renewal reminder.

What is the discount If I may ask? We're in the middle of buying and are trying to figure out media options.

Thanks!

For DVC members, a new AP is $314 incl tax, a renewal is $298. I think the savings is only worth it if you are going to use the renewal shortly after the previous expiration.

Terry, that is weird. My mailing was specifically about getting the DVC discount on the renewal. How they know I'm not sure.

Yes, alot of DVC mailings come from Gerogia. I'm sure it is a mailing service that has been contracted out.

Renewals are rarely worth it. When they used to not activated your renewal until you used it they were worth it. Now it would only benefit a few to renew. It might be a good idea for all to take a good close look at the new tickets they sell, if you just go to one park per day they could be a better ticket to buy. Better yet if you don't go to WDW parks at all that is even a bigger savings. :goodvibes

I agree. We'll wait to renew ours this December (instead of our expiry of May) instead. Not enough of a price difference between the two.

I got the DVC AP renewal card today, my AP doesn't expire until December.

Got the DVC AP Discount mailer yesterday, no mention of our PAPs expiring the end of May....

Sorry for not keeping up here, but the $314 - that's for a regular AP? What's the difference with a PAP? And are there black out dates or anything?

Thanks!

When I added on 50 points to my contract I received 2 free one-day passes and the return address was Georgia also.

My renewal price (10 and up) is listed as $280, $238 for 9 and under.
We have annual passes, not the PAPs. This must be the pre-tax price, I guess.

An AP is only for the 4 theme parks. A PAP gets you also into the water parks, Disney Quest, PI, WWoS. The only pass with blackout dates is the Florida Resident Seasonal Pass.

This site has all the different pass details:
