Got a Pin for May...but I have a Q for booking via internet.

I am so torn between going in May and going in Aug.
If I go in May obviously I have the pin for 35% or 40% off a mod or deluxe resort stay. But my aunt, uncle and their 3 boys won't come b/c she can't take them out of school. But my mom and dad and sis would come.

If I go in Aug, my aunt, uncle and 3 boys will come. I don't want her to be upset b/c we had planned on going in Aug, but I am very tempted to book a May trip b/c it's not too hot (we usually go in May) and b/c I got the pin code.

And my other question....can I use my pin to get quotes via the internet and book at a later date? There's a link at the bottom of my e-mail and it says "Book Now" and if I click on it my pin # comes up and it asks me for my name. I wanted to play around and see the prices, but probably wouldn't book til Nov.

I think it would depend on how concrete the plan to go in August was that include your aunt uncle and their kids. If you barely mentioned it in passing and it was something that was as likely not to happen as it was to happen and your relationship with them is not terribly close then I could see changing the dates. It might be a few degrees cooler in May but it can be pretty darn hot then too.

It is hot in the summer... we just went this past August... but frankly at Disney we are not outside in the sun a great portion of the time. We go from place to place and all the rides are air-conditioned and all. The only time it bothered me was a couple of years ago before we started doing character dining we would wait in line to see characters. That was a drag but I can only imagine how big a drag it was heat-wise for the characters!

Have you ever gone in May? How do the crowds compare to Aug? We went in Sept when I was young and I don't remember large crowds but I do remember the humidity. When we go in May the only things we wait for are usually the headliner attractions, which we usually get the FPs for anyways. Like last May we kept getting on and off Snow White, no wait.

We've been in May also, but not since DD8 started school. It is true that crowds are better. Gotta love that. Even when we went in June (2008) and August (2009) we didn't have a problem with the lines but we'd always FP the busy ones and never had to wait long for the others. Of course if you'd like to ride the FP ride multiple times that isn't so hot. I don't suppose there's any way you could pull off both trips. We technically (financially) weren't supposed to go back until December 2010 but we took advantage of a really good deal on the pirate rooms for just three nights (we are staying in Orlando elsewhere for one additional night first because I didn't feel it was worth the extra $$ since we wouldn't be getting in until around 7 pm). We'll head over the next morning and be flexible about how we want to spend our day. We are driving though.

I'm going to do that volunteering thing for free tickets with my DD 8 when it comes out after Jan 1st, then apply them towards longer length ones the next time we vist. I'll just have to buy them outright for my DD3 since she is too young for the volunteering. Rambling, sorry.

Could I ask how people qualify for these pins please? Is it acceptable to ring Disney and ask if there is a pin against my name?

Sorry, back on topic, without upsetting your relatives, I would opt for May - as you know, it's a lovely time to go, crowds are OK and the weather is usually wonderful - August would be way too hot for me

I can't understand why we haven't received a PIN in 3 years! The first year we went we had an awesome PIN and then we were sent 3 pins we couldn't use then ....NOTHING! So excited for all of you receiving PINS but bummed we have not because we're going in May and it looks like we'll be paying the rack rate which means we may need to down grade our resort and won't be adding hopper to our park tickets!
Did any of you receiving PINS for May sign up for anything special to get these PINS?

I'm the same, I'm always pleased for people who get the pins/discounts but at the same time bummed for myself lol

However, I'm feeling more up beat, I called Disney and asked if a pin was against my name, spoke to a lovely CM who unfortunately said not, BUT to keep checking for a discount for May (!), maybe I'm reading too much into it but I thought that was quite positive, fingers crossed for all of us who haven't received pins.

Check your email for the "Book by" date. There are several pin code emails out right now all with different dates. My email is good until 2/28/10...but there is no guarantee the resort you want will be available if you wait too long as only a limited number of rooms are available at the pin code rate. You could always book the May dates now and if you decide to go in Aug, you can change your dates. You wouldn't get the pin code rate for Aug, but it would keep you from losing out on the pin code rate for May if you decide to go then.

I am sorry that you haven't gotten a pin! See, this is my worry, I KEEP getting pins (I think I have gotten 2 or 3 since our May 09 trip) and I couldn't use them! This one is iffy, since we were planning Aug I probably won't get one for then!

We got that pin as well and are also considering an end of may trip but I havent called to price it out just guestimated with pricing online. I think May is probably the better time of year to go, but wasnt really on our radar either until that offer showed up.
