Got a pin code - same as public offer?

Sorry if there is another thread on this - I did a search but came up empty.

We have a WDW trip booked for November under the public free dining offer staying at CBR. Everything is in my name. Today, my fiance got a pin code in the mail that reads as follows:

Enjoy a free Disney Dining Plan when you buy a non-discounted 5-night 6-day Walt Disney Travel Company Room and Ticket Package at Select Walkt Disney World Moderate, Deluxe, and Deluxe Villa Resort Hotels.

For arrivals most nights Aug 25-Oct 3, Oct 19-Nov 1, Nov 9-22 and Dec 12-23, 2014. Book by Sept 12, 2014. Ask about packages that include a Quick Service Dining Plan at Select Disney Value Resort Hotels. Be sure to mention your unique offer code...

On the flip side of the card it says "Not sure where you'd like to stay? Why not give Disney's Coronado Springs a try!" - incidentally, this is where we stayed last November on the free dining plan as well.

From what I can tell, the pin code is different from the public offer only by the couple of dates offered in October. Is this typical? We luckily have gotten a pin code every year and it's either before free dining comes out or its for a percentage off a room, both of which entice us to book because its not available to the public (yet). Just wondering what the purpose would be if people could book the public offer just the same...

The pin code included resorts that are NOT included in the public offer. I was able to book POR with FD with the pin code, and POR and POFQ weren't included in the public offer.

My mom got one too and we're using it to stay at POR this October. Kind of an impulse trip. Good marketing.

Am hoping for an offer like this -- most of the Moderate resorts for the public FD offer are booked for the dates we were looking at.

We stayed at Coronado Springs last December with Free Dining and loved it; I want to go back this November, but the only thing available right now with FD is their top rooms, at $$$$.

I got one too. I felt special until I compared it with the rates of the public offer and they were the same. I didn't know the resorts and dates were different, but what I did notice on mine was that the minimum nights are 5 and the public offer is 6.

I got one too the resorts are not as restricted as the public free dining. I called and tried to change my resort from POP to POR in november but nothing was avaiable with my pin code

My wife got a PIN code (for the free dining). We didn't use that one as we will be staying at a non-Disney hotel (FS). It started on 8/25 and PO was available. However, we wanted to start out our stay in a Disney resort so the day after I booked AKL on the regular plan (Summer Discount) I got a PIN for Free Park Hopper, which was nice since we got it for a 10-day ticket. Saved us almost $300....

FYI for anyone with the free dining pin offer- if you call YOU CAN BOOK AS LITTLE AS 3 NIGHTS AND STILL GET THE OFFER- also only a minimum of 2 day tickets for each person- although I'm not sure if you just get 2 day ticket you may only get 2 day free dining.

Thought this may help anyone not wanting the min. 5 nights that was on the email/flyer.

A few more dates were added to the pin code and Port Orleans is included as well which was great for us. I got the pin last week and we were able to switch from Pop to POFQ w/ FD!!!! They were excluded from the general public and visa offer so I was kind of bummed about not staying at my favorite resort this year but now its happening!!

I got this same mailing, also stayed at CSR last November with free dining as well. Oddly, I got this in the mail about three weeks AFTER already booking our trip for this coming November and FD again.

my mother got this one as well! We were so sad when both PO resorts were excluded! We moved up to deluxe but really wanted to stay at PO! So when we got the pin code we moved to POFQ. My mom was super excited! Plus it saved us about $1500! That's more comfortable!

We just got some pixie dust! We had booked All Star Music with general public free dining weeks ago. I got the pin yesterday...called today just to see if we could switch to Movies (tried online last night; it said not for our dates). Talked to amazing CM Mirabelle who put me on hold for about two minutes and came back and said no problem and switched us over! Happy dance at our house today! Music would have been totally fine but we love Movies!!

My husband got the Free Dining fall pin code today, and we were able to change our reservations from POP to POR (also changed my sister's as well, from AoA to POR). We are very happy - this is the resort we wanted, but went to our second choice when we found out that POR wasn't available for the general public FD promo.

Sorry to bump an older thread but I just wanted to stay,
you can use pin codes in someone else's name if you share an address. We just did this, the code was sent to my mom, I don't live with her but I still use her address on my license and they told me it was fine and let us book a trip w/o my mom.
I have switched hotels 3 three times on this offer and never once was questioned about it, they just asked me to provide her name then attached the pin to my account and let me use it!
Also, we got stuck at CSR (I've stayed their before) because no other resort was available, we I checked today and both POR & POFQ had opened up more rooms so we ended up switching to POFQ! Keep checking!
