UGH!! My worst nightmare come true!!!

:scared1:

I got the FREE DINING PIN TODAY!!

We are supposed to go to Washington, DC this summer for vacation - my cousin is getting married up there so we're combining the wedding & and extra 4 days..instant vacation..and I have lots of cool things already planned for DC too..

BUT..

this is DISNEY people!!

and DH..my sweet, sweet DH - he too loves Disney, but not quite as much as me and the boys do...

and I could PAY CASH for it..in like 3 weeks...

BUT..

it would be the money we're getting back from taxes this year that was supposed to go towards the "rear end of his 1969 Mustang" and the money he's getting for a bonus on April 1st...

do you think he'd take one for the team so we could go to Disney?? :woohoo:

YIKES!!

How does one pose a question like that to their spouse?? :confused3

HELP ME PEOPLE!!!

I guess I would say go to DC and let him use the refund for what he is planning on. You went the last two years and are going next year and this is not the last special offer that will ever come out.

Sorry! No help from me!

DH is the one who requested Disney this year. I had told him we could do every other year. Well, last year I wanted to do a cabin in Gatlinburg, that got changed to go to Wis Dells with his sister. So I was looking at a cabin in Gatlinburg or Branson this year, since I got put off, and could tell DH was disappointed in not doing Disney in a "scheduled" year. So, it's Disney this year and Branson next. These men work so hard they've got to have their way once in a while!

Hmmm, it's tought to compete with the rear end of a '69 Mustang.

Any way you can lessen the cost of the D.C. trip?

Don't underestimate the power of a nice meal and a romantic evening when you bring up the subject. (He can thank me later.)

Yes, this I know quite well...he's been a "mustang lover" as long as I've known him..

eeehh...actually its not that bad - I'ts down to like $2,500 for 6 days/7 nights - most tickets and "things to do" are free - its mainly the hotel & the eating that will kill us - DC is as expensive as Disney!!

:thumbsup2

Now you're talking...I've already put part 1 of the "The Plan" into action..he won't be able to resist my charms...

Good Gravy!!

Where is the DIS support??!!?? I was hoping to hear lots of good suggestions on how to sway DH to MY SIDE...we are DIS people for goodness sake!!

*sigh*

I guess one cant go to Disney EVERY year..right?? :sad2:

That's true...I guess....if you want to look at it that way...

I'm in the same boat as you. Got the FD pin code a few days ago and both my dd's and I really want to go. We told DH earlier that we would do something else this year, he wants to go to a forest or mountains. But he likes the idea that we would be getting something free from Disney, so I am trying to work things out. Maybe we could take a cheaper camping trip and Disney. If only I could get a one or two bedroom suite at Disney, he would be so happy! But we would not spend the money on it.
One thing I am telling DH is WDW has a lot of air conditioning. Many of the other attractions we are looking at like Williamsburg and Dollywood, have everything outside and it is still hot there.
Good Luck!

THANKS!! I think I'm going to need all the luck I can get!!

I gave him a quick "overview" of what I'd priced out already- a "lesser view room" than what we've had before which is yet another savings!!

and....since we do the dining plan, and would have ADRs lined up already, I thought we could even do without the HOPPER tickets...see..even more savings..

and I told DH that this could be a less-stressed trip than the last ones - we always try to squeeze everything in to every day and by day 3 my kids were dropping!!

I just know how much the boys (they're 11 & 9) would LOVE LOVE LOVE to go this year...

and I dont want to make him feel guilty about spending the money on his car - but then again..I dont have a fancy-smancy car to spend money on..

and we both work - and I get bonuses too -but mine always go towards "the household"...

Im just saying..:rolleyes1

but, I've planted the "disney seed" in his brain and left around the house some of my "notes" on the "trip I'm NOT planning", and I told him the PIN expires the end of April - so he has a few days to change his mind! :rotfl:

Could you just go to the wedding alone and not stay long? That would save a lot of money and put it towards the Disney trip! :)

If I had my say that's exactly what we would do - or we'd do the DC vacation and then just skip the wedding!!

:scared1:

anyway..that's a whole different topic..

I already have tickets to see: the Washington Monument, the Printing & Engraving Bureau, the Capital building and we're on a waiting list to visit the White House...and Im also supposed to get tickets to the Spy Museum..

and my boys should have an educational vacation every once in a while, right??

why can't we have one educational one and one REALLY FUN ONE..that's all Im asking...

:thumbsup2

You could also tell him your DS will be full price next year :upsidedow

We got the FD pin as well, and I've already booked, still waiting on the official yes from DH, my DD (10) wrote a long note on the pin card, and I took a pic of her w/her puppy dog eyes and taped it to the card. So far we havent gotten a no, which is 95% yes coming from my DH ;)

He does like Disney, but is not a nut like the rest of the family

We also have friends that are coming the same time, so that helps on my part, he'll have a friend, little does he know we plan on having the men take the little boys :rotfl:

Ha! I would love to see the note and puppy dog eye picture!

Here is the pic of our Pin card, LOL

You could tell him that if he goes to WDW than you will crawl all over the hood of the Mustang in lingerie (think 80's hair-band video)

That pic is awesome! AND they'll keep their room clean! :lmao:

Are you staying in DC? If you are, try staying on the outskirts of DC. I went to DC a couple of years ago and we got a suite (We are a family of 6) for I think $100/night at a Hilton or a Hyatt or something like that just outside of DC. I think that's what my mom said. It was a very nice hotel. lol I can't remember. Anyways, we just drove to the train station and took the subway to the Smithsonian. Easy and convenient.

Try something from Love American Style and after a long day at work meet him at the door wearing just the PIN!!!

How many of you are googling Love American Style???

We're actually staying in Alexandria, VA - Olde Town to be exact - its a little more "kid friendly"...
