I respectfully disagree with this suggestion. It's just DH and I and we always get a one bedroom for the luxury of it. We have a king bed at home and love that we can get one on vacation. There are already options available for those who need more beds (two studios or a two bedroom; or put the other guests to bed on the pull-out and do your staying up in the bedroom portion). When we've taken more people in the past we've just moved up to a two bedroom. I know this has been discussed before and it turned into quite the debate, so I'll shut up now. :)

You are right, we probably don't want to go down that debate road again ;). As for being able to get a king, it is nice depending on your circumstances. For others it is not so important. Perhaps that is whay the suggestion mentioned was to put queens in some, but not all, of the 1 Brs.

To be honest, I do think the current set up stinks. If you have 5 people you need a two bedroom, when a 1 Br would have more than enough space and could easily accomodate 5 if it had two beds in the bedroom. Not that it is that big a deal, but it always seemed odd that the studios and 1 Brs accomodate the same number of people.

Wow, what did I get myself into? I figured I would get a couple of responses, this is great, and all within a few hours!!!

OK, some replies...

joepoe, Yes they did specifically say they were from DVC, and they did give me a call back number.

InstImpres, Not sure what you mean by your suggestion. Can you clarify for me?

kennyb1, Maybe you could take these same ideas with you when you go to your session. With two of us presenting them, maybe it will mean a little more...

Everyone else,
I will do my best to summarize these and bring them with me. I also had a thought about maybe some DVC specific special functions. Maybe an E-Ticket night only for DVC memebrs or a special party at one fo the DVC resorts.

Keep 'em coming. I have three more days before we leave...

The biggest problem I see making ANY kind of modification to "some but not all" of any type of unit, is what if you counted on having 2 queens or a King and units of that type were not available when you checked in - remember THEY ARE REQUESTS ONLY. The same for bunkbeds vs. fold-out etc.

Mickey Maniac,

First of all I would like to thank you for being the messenger for all of us here on the DIS.

Here is a list of what I'd like to see in order of importance:'

1) Online reservation system with automatic confirmations e-mailed to you, along with a hard-copy. This way we wouldn't have to spend so much time getting busy signals from MS.

2) Discounts on ALL passes including PAPs and APs.

3) Definitely some sort of all-encompassing discount throughout the parks and Disney property eating establishments.

4) Possibly something like the Front of the Line feature that Universal has for their resort guests. This would be a great perk for DVCers.

5) Package deals on the order of the Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans where you can get magical "wishes" for your party. Doesn't everyone think that we should have the same opportunity as other resort guests??

Just some comments on other suggestions I have seen:

- I'd doubt anything should be said about new DVC properties at AKL or one of the monorail resorts. While I think this is a great idea, I also think it's not a bonafide reality that something like this can get done. I mean, right now EP is on the back burner in favor of SSR. Personally I would try to get the doable things implanted in their heads and hopefully we can get something out of it.

- I like the idea of the special E-Ticket night for DVCers, but how would you run it, and how often? I mean you couldn't have E-Ticket in early January, then mid-late February, etc. Something would have to be planned in order to make it available at regular intervals, so as not penalize DVCers who may be coming "home" at a time when there isn't an E-Ticket night.

WHEW!! Sorry for being long-winded.

Brian

First, I am not interested in any downgrading of the units by having 2 queens in a master bedroom, if you have kids rent a 2 bedroom that is what a two bedroom is for and grandvillas. I always rent a 2 bedroom or grandvilla when there is more than just my wife and myself.
As for park tickets there should be a real discount not 10%, similar to Florida residents.

Online account management and a property-wide discount seem to be the most important to the majority ,and have a very good chance at happening.
For the record,I also would be against changing the room configuration,I think it works just fine the way it is.

I agree with many posters so far, and I do think FL resident level discounts would be my #1 request followed closely by the ability to view transactions (in a readable format) online.

This has been posted before many times, including fairly recently, but it is important to me as a Western Pennsylvanian-

I would like to have more Concierge Collection options available in the Mid-Atlantic area and the Midwest. So many DVC owners are from our region and we have few options within driving distance. There are II options in Hershey and the Poconos, but neither are destinations that are up to Disney's level or would be desirable for a whole week's stay. For example, Nemacolin Woodlands is a beautiful world-class deluxe spa/golf resort in Famington PA and is a frequent host to many dignitaries (including the President.) It is easily accessable from PA, Ohio, MD, NY, W Virginia, and VA. Also, there is not even a single option for a beach resort along the Maryland/Delaware shore, and that is the most common beach destination for people in our area. I know this is not a request that is common to every DVCer, but it would befefit a great deal of us.

Thanks so much for offering to "go to bat" for us! Have a great trip!

Renee

Earn double or triple points for purchases made on Disney property with the new Disney Visa card.

Ask about the attic @ bw. It was originally supposted to be for dvc members, but now its for private events. Why the change?

Thank you for offering to voice our opinions!
I second (or third) these suggestions:
1. Discounts comparable to the discounts that FL residents get.
2. On-line booking and account management.
3. A DVC at Disneyland, CA
:D

Reneesam I agree with you 100% on the Nemacolin resort, I was so impressed with the place when I went there I called, emailed and wrote to DVC asking for them to consider the Nemacolin resort to go on their collection and was told ( rather snottily I must say) that DVC considered they had enough resorts on their collection. I pointed out that there was a massive hole in their offerings and that the Nemacolin was right in the middle of that barren area and would be a great help for people all over West Pa, Ohio , West Virginia , Virginia and the Carolinas.

If anyone wants to take up the challange of getting Disney to consider this top class resort here's the website http://www.nwlr.com

hopefully they'll actually listen to the suggestions from this focus group!

here's my wish list:
  1. discount for purchasing Annual Pass or Premium Annual Pass. this makes sense because we would be forced to stay longer and/or travel to WDW more than once a year, thus spending more money. asking for a discount on APs and PAPs seems more attainable than
asking for discounts on Park Hoppers, which seems like they would never agree to that.
  2. resort-wide dining discounts. this helps them MAKE more money because if we had a discount, we would eat at the expensive restaurants more! :p
  3. a simple online read-only system for us to do the following would be good enough:
    A) look up our points balance
    B) view existing reservations
    C) view existing waitlist requests
    D) check room availability
  4. if they want to invest more time/money to make a better online system that includes the above functionality, and also the below listed functionality in addition, that would be even better:
    A) perform banking transactions online
    B) make new reservations online
    C) change existing reservations online
    D) cancel existing reservations online
    E) make new waitlist requests
    F) change existing waitlist requests
    G) cancel existing waitlist requests
    H) pay our dues online
    I) pay our mortgage online
    J) change our address/phone/email
  5. VERY IMPORTANT: if they do make an online system, we still want to ability to call MS. i.e. do not take away the phone system, or attempt to replace the entire phone system/agents if an online system is implemented.
  6. fix MS's computer system so they can handle the legal/written rules that DVD defines for Transferring Points.
these rules are currently defined in Paraqraph 5 of the Home Resort Rules and Regulations, also distributed to Members in the Multi-Site Public Offering Statement, located on page 42 of the latest revision dated 8/2002.

currently, MS's computer system does not follow the same rules that DVD has legally outlined. this is ridiculous.
  7. ability to use our DVC points to book Tokyo Disneyland resorts.
  8. DVC resort at AKL woiuld be great, but only if construction does not traumatize the animals again. a nice alternative might be a DVC resort at the Poly.
there's my wish list. sorry this post is so long.
i hope people going to the focus group will read this thread, and get some ideas to pass along to DVC management.

in fact, it might work just to print out this thread, and hand it over to them.

I agree with the posts. I would like to see on-line ...something account management maybe even booking, though I also still want phone access.
I doubt that we weill see "florida" type discounts. That would cost DVD to much money. If Disney would be willing to foot the bill than we have a shot we should lobby WDW not DVC for this discount.

Are you sorry yet that you asked??? :) I agree with most of the others about general 10% discount or at least PH/PHP passes. In addition, I'd like to see some of the OKW studios have bed/sofa set up like other studios. Not all, just some. When it's just DH and I, we usually get a studio to conserve points. We prefer to have a sofa to sit on. Also, would like to see a DVC RESORT ON THE MONORAIL!!!!! Thanks for asking. Have a wonderful and magical trip.

That is so nice of you to volunteer to take our suggestions to the meeting with you!! I am glad you thought of it.

I agree with the other posters, with the exception of queen beds in the master bedroom. I feel that we would be down-grading DVC. However, if there were a small amount of rooms made up that way, it might be OK. I would just hate being forced into one of those rooms if I didn't specifically ask, though. It would be like getting a handicapped room when no one in your party is handicapped.

I think online access to our accounts is a must! And soon! The current Disney website is pretty useless when you want actual info.

I have always thought that the area at BCV in the solarium was a waste of a lovely space. How about a DVC meeting there, with coffee and rolls, like they do for member updates? they could tie this in with the silver, etc. upgrades, so that the cost to DVC would only be someone to staff the area. I would love to be able to order a silver or a platinum upgrade for DVC members. Also, how about declaring us to be Florida residents, just for the purpose of getting the Florida passholders discounts??

Thanks again for passing our succestions on to the higher-ups.:p

I'd like to second most of the requests so far, particularly a discount on a practical ticket media like AP's and PAP's. And would you mind addressing the limited parking at the BWV?

Florida residents discounts including the Disney Dinning club and Passes. A DVC at Poly and AKL. Special point deals at WDW resorts during off peak. Bring back the Disney Club. :smooth:

1.On-line access to your acct(reservations,points,etc)
2.Stop raising points to cruise every year for DVC members
