Google Earth and WDW

Anyone know when the satellite images on Google Earth were taken? I ask because it's very obvious from them that crowds were low---perfect time to plan for a trip.

1. When were these pictures taken? How often are they updated?
Our images are photographs taken by satellites and aircraft sometime in the last three years. The images in Google Earth are updated on a rolling basis. Click here for more details.

I just looked at my house - my car was totaled 3 years ago and it is showing in the image (was white so stands out) - I would say between 3-8 years.

I just noticed that the Florida Turnpike coming in from I75 is now identified. The Animal Kingdom Lodge is now in a high-resolution section picture. POP Century is not on the map, but the picture is Low-res, so the picture is older then 2003, when POP was built.
Google Earth is awesome in that we tracked our road trip from Missouri to WDW, locating where we stopped for gas, food, etc.

I know it was some time ago, since 20,000 Leagues is still at the MK. Attendance has picked up in the last few years -- if the photo was taken soon after 9/11 then the crowds would be lower than now no matter what time of year.

Google Earth is awesome... type in "Sphinx" and it takes you right to egypt and to the sphinx & pyramids.

I was looking at the hotel Iam staying in when I go to London in August too

and at my ex husbands house

You can see satellite photos of the earth. Some are amazing resolution and you can see cars and such.

Pictures could be taken at different times at different places.... So a picture of your house might not be the same one that snapped WDW.... butttt the date that Magic Kingdom and Epcot was taken is April 23, 2001

I know this because I have two GIANT posters taken from satelite images. I also noticed that the crowds where extremely low for that day I am assuming the reason could be 1) Earlier in the morning 2) the Day after school vacation of 2001... Funny thing is I was there the week earlier! The posters are AMAZING you can make out every single person it is incredible

Thanks for the info Equidae. Unfortunately, I can't download it...lowly Windows 98 user here. Sounds cool though.
