We are going to be at DLR for only 2 days. DL one day and DCA the other. I wanted to do either the Goofy's Kitchen or Minnie's Breakfast on our DL day. I know it will be cutting into our day at the park, but I don't want to miss the character breakfast.

Any suggestions on which one to do over the other one?:confused3

We love both character meals, so it will depend on what you like.....
Goofy's has a huge buffet & tends to be a bit loud at times. Chef Goofy & Chef Pluto seem to always be at this meal. Chip & Dale are seen there often & then usually a princess or Alice & at least one more character (we saw Baloo last time). Goofy gets the kids up by the buffet to dance & bang pots thru-out the meal.

Minnie's is a bit quieter & smaller buffet. There are more classic characters like Minnie, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Fairy Godmother, Capt Hook, etc. Our last trip we saw 14 characters (but that would be considered rare & very good luck!!). The norm for the meals we've had there is 7-9 characters.

Goofy's is at the DLH....so a ways from the park...but you can catch the Monorail in DTD.
Minnie's is at the Plaza Inn right at the HUB....so inside the park.

Missing a bit of park time depends on park opening & how early you can schedule your meal. You may find that the park opens at 9 & you can eat at 7:30 at Goofy's...... So I'd look into park schedule & see if you can figure out which one might not interupt a lot of park time.
Another suggestion would be to spend about an hour at the park & then have breakfast. Say the park opens at 8am, go to Fantasyland for an hour & then schedule your breakfast at Minnie's for 9:15....that way you can take advantage of the smaller crowds in Fantasyland.

Personally, I like Minnies. I love being in the park, it just feels really special. And our interaction has been better there then at Goofys. There were more food choices at Goofys, but we love breakfast food so we were fine at Minnies. We like to plan for a later breakfast so we have a few hours to play then take a nice break. If you try to do that at Goofys it feels like it takes so much time to get there and back it really will cut into your day at the park. If you choose Goofys I would go really early, before going to the park.

We've had breakfast @ Minnie's twice and Goofy's once ~ Goofy's was most recent during our last trip (early March 09) ~ I prefer Minnie's - more characters, less expensive, in the park ~ in fact our only character meal next week is Minnie's! We like to dine at Minnie's after a MM (and after we've collected a couple FP's) ~ around 10:30.

Thanks for the info.

Even though I really wanted to go to Goofy's kitchen, I think that the Minnie breakfast is going to be the easier route.

We are traveling with a 4 year old and 9 month old and to leave the park and then come back might be to much of a mission.

I think you should do Goofy's before park opening. With a 9 month old you'll be up anyway, no? One day at Disneyland is simply not enough to be stopping to do a character meal... I'd be anxious the whole time wanting the meal to be done so we could go and see stuff. Maybe that's just me though?

I totally understand you....but we are WDW vets and even though I have read on here that DL and WDW are different...there are some similarities and we are going to do as much as we can. I have been on HydroGuy's thread and read all about the differences.

I want to take it easy and just enjoy the parks....

We've always enjoyed Minnie's more than Goofy's because of the number of characters, the amount of interaction, and the fact that it is in the park. We never miss any park time because we make PS for before park opening. When you do this, there is a cast member waiting near the left side of the gates to walk you to the restaurant for your reservation time. To us, this feels like bonus park time!

Have a wonderful time!

Hands down, Minnie and Friends. LOVE it in there!!!! We like the 10 or 10:30 seatings, plenty of food, plenty of characters and plenty of time in the parks before our meal. :)

I just thought of something else....you will have park hoppers right? Don't limit yourself to one park per day, hop between the parks. Many times the crowds at DL will be crazy so then hop on over to DCA and head to Bug's World with the kids, there are some fun rides for them to do over there. :) And the crowds at DCA are "usually" smaller than at DL itself. :)

If you don't have the time, then it's best to go to Minnie's Breakfast due to it's location. It would take about 30 minutes out of your day to get from DLH to DL itself.

For me, I would do an early breakfast ( just so that you don't have to rush and enjoy yourself ) at Goofy's then go over to DL afterwards. The only drawbacks ( at least for me ) that I don't like about Minnie's Breakfast is the crowds and the breakfast items ( all of which I consider standard Cafeteria food ).

With your time issue, I would go with Minnie's. Alhtough for food and characters I much prefer Goofy's. Minnies can be very hectic, the lines can be long and there is really not a lot of selection. I avoid most of the crowds and hassle now by booking the latest possible seating I can. That way I can ride things in the park when its the least crowded, then have a late breakfast after the restaurant has quieted down a bit and skip lunch.

Goofy's is my favorite character meal, I have done all the ones at DL and all but one (never have done Garden Grill at Epcot) in WDW and Goofy's has never disappointed. But the convenience of being inside the park is worth so much. And the food is okay at Minnie's we just like the selection at Goofy's more. But we also almost always stay at the DLH.

I also love the Plaza Inn, Walt's wife Lillian decorated that place and it so lovely!

I have a poll posted right now and it seems most people say Goofy's Kitchen.
