Goofy Support Group (AKA Goofy Challenge 2010)

Just checking in - haven't been around lately but I have been putting in some training.

Christine Just saw this and wanted to post a reply - neat idea about taking a pic of your unique bag- good idea for the airport as well. The only problem with that at the Disney races (well the marathon in particular) I know last year they gave us a clear bag and you could ONLY check in stuff using that bag. I am not sure if its like that at every race or only the big marathon in January because I have never had to check a bag in besides at the marathon) the other times my DH held whatever I needed as he waited for me. So not sure if I helped or not - anyone else have a better answer on the checked bags?

I think you are right about the clear bag. I posted the same tip on disneyrunning.com and someone there told me about the clear bags. It was not that way for the Princess, but maybe because there were fewer people. I am sure the clear bag system works just fine. I will just have to make sure my "delicate" items are not on the outside of the bag!! ;)
 
Deb--glad to hear you are training without pain. That stretching is important! Keep it up. Glad to hear your DOOD finished that course without much injury to report. Way to go for both of you running along that "course" Sounds a bit like a hike I took in Ireland...but that is another story. BTW what is a vertical running shirt?

The strength training after my TM was a one time event. I'd prefer to do it the other way around in the future. Session # 15 with the PT today. He is getting pretty tough on me!! Sometimes I have to remind myself that I am paying for this torture!! But, the nice thing is that I seeing more improvement than I thought possible for a middle-aged gal. 6.5 miles on the TM when I got home from work.

Another episode of Biggest Loser tomorrow. Wonder how many of us will be on the TM?!

60 min aqua-fit class - done. I had to change things up a bit since I couldn't make it to the Weds night aqua-fit class - will be on the TM Weds night now.

To celebrate my ten years of running Disney, I've decided to give the Goofy Challenge a try. This will be my first Goofy. My estimated times:

Thanks for reminding me Christine. I was planning on going out after work to do my 3 miles but I might as well do them while watching Biggest Looser (I was planning on watching Hell's Kitchen but I can watch that on the DVR)

So today I will do 3 miles on the TM while watching Biggest Looser. And on a related note - I joined Jillian's Michaels online program today - trying to figure out my meals so far. She doesn't have me scheduled for exercise today but I know I have at least the 3 miles to do to keep on track for Goofy.
 
I'll be there with you, Tricia. I am going for 6 miles...

40 min biking at the gym - done! And I did an extra 35 min on the TM when I got home while I was watching the BL, just for fun.

We are on the same schedule; I'll be running my first Goofy this year celebrating the 10th anniversary of my first marathon (which was also WDW 00). This will be my 5th marathon and 46th 1/2 marathon (unless I sneak another 1/2 in before January).
 
Pat! Can I join in too? My stress level over Goofy preparation is hitting an all time high.....but if I can attach my bungee cord to you - I know I can make it!

Week 8 with the PT. Sessions are getting TOUGH!! Lots of sweat! But, I feel I am making a lot of progress. 1 hour on the elliptical after that.
 
Got a bit derailed with being sick Sunday through Monday. Back at it once more. I am so happy to read about everyone's progress.

Good training everyone. Wow! What machines!

Getting my steps in! I'm working on fueling for the marathon. I'm thinking I'll need something more than gels and beans after 13 miles. Trying Clif Bars this week.
