Goofy Support Group (AKA Goofy Challenge 2010)

Liz, Congrats on the RnR Chicago! In addition to Pat's suggestion check amazon too. A few weeks ago I saw my last fave shoe but missed out on the great price and my size, sat on the fence too long :sad2: Hope the blisters heal ASAP and all the best on the tri's later this month.

Pat, I'm trying to post more regularly too. Checking in more regularly is keeping me inspired :thumbsup2

I took yesterday and today off. Yesterday I prepped all my veggies for the week so i had a nice healthy dinner tonight but i have my gym bag packed and ready for tomorrow. I'm really hoping for some TM time tomorrow after I do my core work.

Pat and Diane - I'll hold you to that! LOL

Michelle - Great job on the double digits!!!

Hello to everyone else and Congrats to our Chicago Half Finishers!!! WTG

Hi All!!

Remember that you can use the WISH discount at runningwarehouse, or is it runnerswarehouse.com?? The info is in the welcome to WISH sticky and I think the discount is 15%. I just hate it when a company "new and improves" something that I really liked!!

It's http://www.runningwarehouse.com

We get 15% everything except ASICs and Mizuno products 'cause ASICs is weird and I don't know about Mizuno. Anyway, just click on the Team Discounts thing at the top right of the page, then enter WISHD and hit enter. Automatically deducts the 15% when you put stuff in your basket.

Liz...you might just do a search online to see if you can find anyplace that still has some of the old model leftover. I'm cheap so I always wait for the new model before upgrading. I'm excited about my Saucony's...the next model is purple!!!

I'm trying to fit duathlon training into the Goofy schedule. I think I'm going to start working on bricks on Tues when DD6 has gymnastics. I took a mile off my 'run' tonight so I can run after I ride the stationary bike tomorrow. Need to get my long bike rides back in action too...I've kinda missed those the past 3 weeks. :rolleyes1

I also think I can workout RFTT and TOT with the way the schedule plays out, though I would switch the longer run to Friday on TOT week. DD16 has Homecoming the night before RFTT so I'd be driving up to Orlando that morning. She has a band competition the night of TOT, but if my mom can come up to stay with the girls, DH and I can go up on Sat.

Any other snack or potty stops to watch for during the full?

Thanks Chris and Robert! I've seen 10 miles before...but because I will be passing my "usual" 13 mile goal this time, every step is a little scary! Does that make sense?

Yep I understand. I haven't seen double digits since early May and I'm anxious to get back there.

I'll join the ranks of those getting back into posting more regularly. Too much vacation and not enough training in July!! Back on the TM yesterday 8.35 miles and started working with a personal trainer today.

I also booked my room today since the 2010 rates are now out. 1-7-1/13 @ POR. No discounts yet. Hoping for an AP rate and maybe add the QSDP if they still allow AP's to do that w/o a ticket purchase with the package.

Where is everybody thinking about staying? I picked POR since I am trying to stay at all of the WDW resorts and I have not yet stayed there and I like the pasta bar at the food court there. Thought that would be handy the nights before the races.

Mel, I always wait for the MK restroom in the cut-through between Adventureland and Frontierland. It is a huge facility and not far off the course! I am SO fond of flushing toilets.:lmao: I'm going to pass on the snacks though - I'm just hoping I have enough time to spare for one character picture along the way.

I do have a photo hint though - afterwards wear your medal to AK and go to Camp Mickey-Minnie. There are photo opportunities with specific characters, so I've been able to get a picture with Donald Duck while wearing my half medal, with Mickey wearing my full, and with Minnie for the 15K. Time it so you get there before the Lion King show gets over and the lines are very short. The characters make a fuss when they see you wearing "their" medal, it's a lot of fun.

Michelle: Makes total sense, but you have so got this. :)

Pat: That is my favorite potty break spot as well. Used it during both Donald and the Princess this year. However, during Princess my RP and I decided to not take chances on lines in the ladies room and went straight for the men's room. Some guy started yelling to us like we didn't know what we were doing, but I figure if a guy is going to sign up for a predominately female race he better be ready for that. I see it all the time during the Half and Marathon in January.

Katie - in January my DH mentioned that there were women in that men's restroom, but he blamed me for sharing the prime-spot info on the internet!! Sometimes a gals gotta do what a gals gotta do!

My first WDW Full I was patient and waited in line in the ladies room. Ended with a finishing time of 6:59:50. A little too close for comfort if you know what I mean, lol. To be honest I think I wouldn't have been so gung ho about running into the men's room if it hadn't had been the Princess race. Was surprised to actually find anyone in there. But that one was laid out perfectly for this kind of situation as there was a wall between the potties and the urinals so you couldn't see a thing. OMG I am on the boards for like one day and I am already getting into potty talk, lol.

Uh:scared1:

In all seriousness I've been to way too many concerts/sporting events to even blink an eye at that. :rolleyes1

Katie - Can I officially add you to our list of Racers?

OMG I am on the boards for like one day and I am already getting into potty talk, lol.

That's how we roll :cool2:

Never considered using the men's room. As many people as you see going in the woods along the course, might as well consider the real potties communal as well. :thumbsup2

You and I have a similar finish time for the full (I was 6:58 something). I'm hoping if I can just hold it together instead of imploding at mile 15, I can actually PR the full :)

Christine...right now, we're at POR also, but we're waitlisted for BLT or OKW. I have a feeling OKW will come through before BLT. Can't believe everything's booked already!

Way to go Michelle!

I am only up to 9 myself. DL 1/2 will be my double digit day.

Way to go Michelle!

Robert - Good job on the 9 miles! I have also been trying not to build too much before DL. Although, one of the days this weekend went from 11 miles to 14 due to a miscalculation on which way we were supposed to go at the fork in the road.

Here's to staying injury free before DL!!!

Sure Chris. I guess you need goal times right? First Goofy. Hoping to pace my father to a 3:00 half (his first) and then my friend's Margaret and Jen to 6:00 full marathons (their first).

Potty talk, my favorite!

My favorite restroom is the MK's AL/FL area as well, Pat and Katie. ;) Women's RR/Men's RR, bah! Who cares? On race day I'm all about practicality. And flushability, with the option to wash one's hands.

Like Mel said, some folks are comfortable with letting it all hang out on the side of the road--me not so much. So I figure what I'm I'm doing is much more discreet! And if all of you are paying attention to anything other than getting to a stall, you're in far better condition than I am. By the time I head to the bathroom, I really do have eyes for only one thing... :rotfl2:

Oh, and great tip for the photo op, Pat. Thanks!

Got you added!!!

Hmmm, never thought about the use of community potty. Fine idea though. We would be barging in on the guys, I'm sure they wouldn't want to even stand in line to use the ladies side.

Training is going slow, but at least something is happening. Getting hotter out here too. Ugh.

I look away for a few minutes (ok, hours) and come back to a bunch of potty talk!

Mel? Snacks.... Kathy somewhere with whips. :thumbsup2 Our own private snack store LOL

Pat, I really like that photo area, I think it's my fave place to see Mickey and the gang. Great idea!

Katie? That photo of you looks really familiar! Am I confusing 2 Katies?I just got the 2 Liz's straight! LOL At least I THINK i have them straight

Lily this weekend around here doesn't look good I hope it's cooler down there by you. How's your son's training going?

Mel? My chip for 2008 was 6:52-ish. How did I miss the implosion? Of course around Mile 15 I was watching those birds circle over my head :lmao:

Well off to bed. I'll check in tomorrow for snack and potty talk :lmao: Night!

That's an old picture, put some weight back on since then, but I did have that as my avatar on DisneyRunning.com for a while. You might recognize it from there if you have ever poked around?

Hey guys :)

I am loving the info on potties, very useful, and will be very appriciated since my tiny bladder cannot handle the amount of liquid it takes to hydrate me :lmao:

I am slowly starting up training again, I have my dad bring his bike for me to use so I went for a ride on sunday, its a little too big for me but its a good excuse not to stop when I am tired, the fact that I cant put my feet down is an excellent motivator! :thumbsup2

I went for a walk in my new shoes yesterday, my shin feels good but my ankle was bothering me a little, but I think its progress.

Todays exercise is in the form of walking around Disney pushing the stroller all day, its my birthday so the kid and I are going for breakfast with the Princesses in EPCOT (or apricot as she like to call it :rotfl2:) and then over to Magic Kingdom for some Disney birthday fun princess: yay!

So everyone have a great day, keep up the good training it sounds like you are doing awesome and speak to you al soon :thumbsup2

Kirsty :grouphug:
