I know this isn't gardening...but related, somewhat.

Recently moved to Ocala, FL and LOVE my outdoor anoles! Overnight temps have cooled down and they've disappeared. While I REALIZE they've survived before I arrived here ;), is there anything I can do to help protect them during the cold seasons?

Denise < --- loves those little critters, but doesn't want to upset the "balance of life".

Welcome to the F & G board, Denise! :flower3:

Anoles are lizards, right? Can you tell I'm not a Florida person? ;)

Are they green or brown, or do they do both colours?

I don't know anything about them, but I think you might already be on the right track. Somehow they've managed to survive to inhabit your yard, and will hopefully be there for you next season too! :)

I realize I haven't been of any real help....lol. ;) :)

We do have some Florida Buds here, and maybe one of them will have more info for you! :)

We have them here in Hawaii and since they usually live in the hotter areas. Would you be able to catch a few of them and keep them inside the house in a cage to keep them warm during the cold months?

Thanks for the welcome, Snowwark! Yup, anoles are my "little lizard guys".

Mommytotwo: don't give my DH any ideas about bringing them inside, LOL. He's ready to go build them some little critter condos as it is...

Denise < --- will probably be around here, as FL gardening is soooo different from MI gardening.

Where were you from and where are you now? I'm a newly transplanted Michigander to Florida too! :flower1:

My son has a pet green anole ~ Cami. It lives in a cage in his room. He spent hours trying to catch anoles at Caribbean Beach in Oct. I'm thinking they probably have someplace they go at night and will be fine. I also think they can sense the weather and get underground or wherever they go when it's going to get nasty. They obviously didn't blow away during the hurricanes because WDW was loaded with them.
