This morning my daughters hamster passed away...... I know some of you will think this is silly because it was just a rodant but she just loved that little thing and to be very honest anyone who met her thought she was the sweetest little thing too..... She was named after Cinderella's little mouse friend.
She started to deteriorate about a month ago when she sarted to get thes little sores on her face and then they healed up and we thought she was fine. Well she wasn't..... I think she had a tumor in her belly because she got really big really fast.... Well I looked in her cage this morning and I couldn't find her... I started to get a little nervous then I looked in the tube that goes to her wheel and there she was, stuck in the tube...dead.....
Well of course this has to happen 5 minutes before we are to leave to go to school/work.... I had to kida pry her out of the tube and she is in the garage awaiting her burial this evening.... i felt so bad for DD9 she was crying so hard (Suzy was a birthday present 2 years ago) and she had to go to school. I wrote a note to her teacher explaining why she may be a little off today... I keep thinking about DD9 hoping she is having an OK day.

I'm so sorry.

No pet is ever "just a whatever type of critter it is" no matter how big or small. When my pet rat died, I cried alot. :(

 Rest in peace Suzy.

My hamster died when I was that age. We came home from my grandparents' house on Christmas Eve and found Donut had gone to the big wheel in the sky. Cried my eyes out. I agree, no pet is ever 'just a (whatever)', especially when you're little. So I don't think it's silly. :(

2 years is a long time for a hamster, though. Suzy had a good run, so you daughter can be proud she was a good hamster mommy.  for her. for you too, since I vaguely remember my mom having to console me for quite a while, so you might be in for something similar.

We had a funeral and even a memorial dinner for my DD when her Hampster, Sweatpea, passed in August. My DD even got a cross from the craft store to put on her grave.

Big hugs to your daughter.
It doesn't matter how big or small the pet is, it is still a much loved family pet & will be missed :(

ALL pets, mom, are very precious, regardless their size or species. They are such friends to us all. Very sad to hear about little Suzy. Let your daughter that someday she will see Suzy again, by the bridge...........

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those
who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Thanks everyone..... I am going to show DD this thread when she gets home from school so she can see how many other people really care::yes::

Tugging at my heart, your story is..... My DD got two guinea pigs for her bday this year. She has wanted her "own" pet for a long time. I dread the day when one or both of them die.... she will be DEVASTATED! Wishing you and her some peace and hugs today ...................P

I said a prayer for Suzy and for your daughter. Losing someone you love is always hard. We're thinking of you.

Sorry about Suzy, poor little hamster. I love the rainbow bridge poem! Hugs to your daughter.

 Sorry to hear about Suzy..

I had a hamster once, his name was Willie. I was a grown woman when I got him and when he died, I cried my eyes out!

Give your DD a big hug for me!

's to you and your dd. :( So sorry about Suzy. I'll bet she had a great 2 years with you though. Do you have any pictures of her?

I had a hamster in my 20's. One night I accidentally left the cage door open, and he got out and I never saw him again. :( He was a great little guy. He drove with me all the way from California to Florida and then back again. The only traveling companion I ever had that never complained once. :)

A pet is a family member no matter what kind of pet it is. Here's a big hug for your DD:hug: I'm sure she will always have fond memories of Suzy.

I send lots of PD and hugs for your daughter. It's so hard to lose a pet no matter what kind it is. :(
