Goodbye Epcot Wand...?

If true, this is great news. Future World is supposed to be about innovation/science/technology ... not magic wands!

If you want wands, then head to the MK.

The one thing I WISH was gone more than anything however are the tombstones in front of the ball. WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THOSE! IMHO, they completely destroy the entrance to the park.

Yeah remember how pretty and classy the entrance was with the fountain and all the flowers. The flowers were always perfect and beautiful. Then Disney went through their let's make everything look cartoonish and do it cheap phase- the wand, Alladin's Carpets, Triceratops spin, and of course the hideous hat!

Thanks for the pictures I knew it spoiled it and I hated it but forgot exactly how much it cheapened it! Again the Studio had class before now cheap and cartoonish.

I've grown to be fond of the wand. I wonder if Spaceship Earth will be plain, or if they'll find another type of item to attach to it?

:confused3

I guess I'm alone in this, but I like the wand. And while we're on the subject, I like the hat too.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading that the wand is the highest structure at WDW. Is that true?

I hated the wand at first - and still think it detracts from the ball. But, I'm used to it now and don't care if it stays or goes.

I do wish they'd get rid of those hideous picture thingies. Or at least stick them off to the side. SO UGLY!!!!!

While I don't like the wand, it doesn't drive me completely nuts. At least the basic structure and view of Spaceship Earth remained the same.

The hat I detest. I probably wouldn't hate it so much if they hadn't plunked it down right down in front of the Chinese Theater. It always makes me think that it was meant to go somewhere else, the crane broke dropped it in the middle of the plaza and they chose to leave it there instead of moving it. It just ruins the lines of the main street there. It used to look so classy, and really transport you into the golden age of movies. Now it just looks tacky! Yuck!

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I like the Leave a Legacy stones at Epcot. I plan on buying one in September with my girls' picture on it. I think it would be very cool to go look at it on all our future trips, and take their pictures next to it every year to see how they grow, and I really hope they don't remove it after all those people have spent all that money to have their pictures become a permanent part of Disney World. As far as the look of them, I think they add to the futuristic, stark angular look of Future World. Maybe the placement isn't perfect, but if we had our pictures on there how cool would that be for us for a picture of my childrento be the first thing we see when we enter the park?

But I do totally agree about the wand. The "2000" they had up there was cool, and it was special for the millenium celebration. The wand is just a cheap imitation and detracts from the look and feel of Epcot, and feels like they were trying to capitalize on the popularity of the "2000." It's just not the same at all, and it's got to go.

Personally, I like the wand and the hat. I do wish the hat weren't right in front of the Chinese theater, but I do like it. And the wand does make Epcot more "Disney" to me- I know, not what Epcot is supposed to be about, but I love magic and pixie dust anywhere! I hope they keep it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading that the wand is the highest structure at WDW. Is that true?

I believe it is. It's the only structure on property that has a flashing aircraft light on top. Everything else was built just under the 200' limit for that.

I'm one of the ones that kind of liked it. But I do hate those big stone pillars that house the Leave a Legacy plates. They're so ugly.

:thumbsup2 think both parks benefit from the bling.popcorn::

Who doesn't line their family up each trip & snap a shot to see how the kiddies have grown?

I am a big fan of Sorcerer Mickey, but here's hoping that his wand and hat disappear from Epcot and Disney*MGM Studios. The wand seems weird for what Epcot is supposed to be. In regards to the hat, I have to agree with a PP that it seems like the crane broke and it got plopped down in random spot. The area seems so crowded and I miss being able to appreciate the Chinese Theater.

I do wish Disney would get rid of/move the mausoleum...I mean the Leave a Legacy. The whole thing creeps me out. I like the idea of leaving your mark at WDW, but I feel that it could have been done differently. Bricks are so classic, cheap, and could be used throughout WDW. Why stop with the bricks???

It looks so much nicer without that hand and those gravestones out front.

You know, your right. I never did like those hidious slabs of stones at the entrance and they do look like gravestones! I would also like the wand removed but also "Horizions" and "World of Motion" to be re-built:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ..smjj

I guess you haven't heard, they're ending sales of them next month...because people never bought them as much as Disney wanted.

I think they're a waste, you can't tell who the person is in the picture anyway and people lose where their spot is, since its so small.

In other words, good concept, bad execution, IMO

The hat was put there due to either licensing issues with the Chinese theater or the possibility of replacing the great movie ride several years ago.

Still at least there was a purpose to that, the wand served none

Yeah, I've always thought the wand looked like a cheap boardwalk sign.

I have always hated the tombstones in the forecourt, it took away the serenity of the area. What they really look like is crash barriers and someone at Disney figured out how to get the guests to pay for them!

Leave the wand!!
Get rid of the TOMBSTONES!!!!!!
