Good vacuum for home with no carpet?

ANyone have a vacuum they love that is good for a house that has no carpet? We have pets (2 long-haired cats, one bulldog). House has hardwood and tile. THanks.

I love my Dyson - but I have a few area rugs on my hardwoods. It works great on both surfaces.

I have one where you can switch from carpet to floor which works well for my house since i have all hardwood with some rugs.

We have no carpet or rugs in our house and use a dyson on the hardwood floor. Then we do a quick 'mop' with a damp microfibre mop to pick up the last of the dust.

MIL and SIL swear by their roombas for their hardwood floors. (And SIL has a long haired kitty and 3 kiddos 5 and under! )

I have all tile and wood in my house. I have three dogs, the Roomba kept getting clogged up with the hair. I love my Oreck. It is light weight and does a great job.

Thanks, everyone. I can't imagine a broom alone is very efficient...plus it kicks up allergens, dust,etc. I need a HEPA filter. Also need to vacuum furniture!
