good steaks?

I have eaten at all the restaurants on this thread ... my preference is the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I consider myself extraordinarily picky on my steaks - go to great lengths to cook them here at home - infrared searing, perfect temp, maytag blue cheese .... Bobby Flay, own his whole collection.

Go for the Yachtsman.

we just got back last week and ate steak every night! Our favorite 1TS steaks were:

1. Wolfgang Puck Cafe
2. Capt. Jacks (it wasn't the best steak we had, but since you could add the lobster tail for free, it made it great!)
3. LeCelliers
4. Concourse
Our 5th meal was Bomas, but I wouldn't go there for the steak, it wasn't that great.

Please note, I'm writing my response knowing that you didn't get the ADR you wanted at Le Cellier, and also that you are looking for a 1 TS credit steak --

I can't recommend the Concourse Steakhouse more highly. My best friend and I eat there every other year when we're together for our "all girls" trip. I am an adventurous diner; Krisi is extremely conservative. (In fact, she is so conservative that one might actually label her a "picky eater" if one didn't love her as much as my friends and I do.) We have never had anything but the most sublime meals and service at the Concourse, and we look forward to that single meal the most in our "all girls" trips.

The cuts of meat have always been superb; the chefs always cook them to our specifications, regardless of our level of pickiness. The side dishes are yummy, even if you are picky and want no garlic in your mashed potatoes. The salads are crisp and not overly laden with dressing; the bread has a marvelously crisp, fresh crust, and the butter is real.

Further enhancing our enjoyment, we have always had magnificent servers. I mean that sincerely. Each and every server we've ever had at the Concourse has been deserving of his or her own letter of commendation. They are friendly without being too forward; polite and helpful, and efficient as well.

On my next family trip, I will be dining at the Yachtsman Steakhouse with my husband, son, and daughter, and despite the fact that many DISers have reassured me that we will love the Yachtsman, there is a large part of my soul yearning for the Concourse instead. Fortunately, I'm meeting Krisi and my other best friends at the Concourse in November, so I will not feel deprived of that glory this year -- at least!

P.S. -- In the pursuit of honesty, I must confess that I have not had magnificent experiences at Le Cellier. It was nice. Honestly, it was nice. But it has never achieved the level of service and food that the Concourse has. When I tried the cheese soup, it was so salty it burned my lips. The service was good and friendly, but the food was not up to par. I keep meaning to go back and give Le Cellier a fourth chance to impress me, but it's hard to do so after three disappointing visits. So don't feel *too* badly that you couldn't snag an ADR there. You may find some other place that pleases you immensely as a result!

I agree with Bay: For 1TS, Concourse Steakhouse is the most reliable source for a variety of good steaks (though not excellent steaks -- you'll find excellent steaks only at the better restaurants). I've had consistently poor steaks at Le Cellier.

DH and I both had the steak there a week and a half ago and it was DELICIOUS!!!!! Yes, we had to send it back once since we ordered it well done and it came out very pink in the middle, but when it came back it was still juicy and so flavorful. DS7 couldn't get enough of our steaks! If I were on the dining plan, I'd definitely try to get an ADR. The scenery is gorgeous and you really get the extra bang for your buck by being allowed to order fried scallops on your caesar salad as an appetizer ($11 just for that).
See-it just goes to show that you cannot take a single or even multiple experiences to heart. You have to just try it for yourself. Good luck with what ever choice you make!

I would like to suggest The Grand FL Cafe. You will not find a ton of reviews on it but the ones you find are pretty good. We were there in May and Le Cellier too. We went to Le Cellier first and the food was very good. DH & I love steak so we thought it could not be beat. However the GF Cafe was the best steak and meal I have ever had. You might want to look at their menu. It is a great place and we cannot wait to go back.

Also it is only 1ts credit and they give you so much andthey are so nice there. If you go try to get a window seat. Our waitress was the best, but she was promoted to Chef Mickeys!
