I am taking my DD's age 12 & 9 on a trip in May, just the 3 of us. Originally my DH was supposed to go, and he prefers the DDP so we got a great deal on a package that included dining. Now my DH is not going to be able to join us and it's turned into a girl's trip! I've already got reservations for Be Our Guest and Ohana, which were 2 of their requests. Now I need to choose 3 more! So I am looking for "fun" suggestions that will help us get the most of the dining plan, at places that all of us can enjoy. I prefer to avoid signatures and use just 1 TS credit each meal. They are past the princess stage, and they are not super adventurous eaters so the most exciting thing they might try is steak. None of us are seafood lovers. On previous trips we have done 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace, Whispering Canyon, Chef Mickey, Akershus, 50's Prime Time and Mama Melrose. I would love suggestions for any other places that we might try that are fun or different. We're open to go to a park, hotel or Disney Springs. Thanks!

I would try Sci-Fi in DHS. The food isn't adventurous and it is one of the best themed restaurants in WDW, IMHO.

Just asked my 12-year-old girl, and besides the places you listed, she said T-REX and Garden Grill.

Tell her Thanks! Would she do Garden Grill for breakfast or lunch/dinner? I saw a breakfast review that was pretty good, but we tend to save our TS credits for dinner.

She said breakfast. but she's a very picky eater who doesn't like to eat meat. We did a 10:30 am breakfast last time, and skipped lunch.

I also have a 9-year-old girl (same as you), but she's not home right now. :-)

I have DDs 7,11 and 13 (and DS 9) and they all want to go back to the fort to eat at Trails end. They loved the food, the quiet moment away with all the trees and grass and the boat ride back and forth to MK. We are doing a 1pm brunch on a Sat as my son wants all you can eat bacon at any meal possible.

At HS, definitely Scf-Fi. Its just fun.
I would consider Boma at AKL. Its a very good buffet. They can be as adventurous as they want to. Lots of options. If you don't like the food, go back for something different.
EPCOT Via Napoli, not sure of Tutto Italia would be too adventurous, but another good option. Think better than Olive Garden.
Garden Grill is another good option at EPCOT.

My DD's are older than yours, but they've always enjoyed Boma (while there are adventurous dishes here, there is also a lot of variety for pickier eaters). Animal viewing after dinner is fun too. Another vote for Trails End- dinner has great comfort food and a fun boat ride to Fort Wilderness.

Teppan Edo is surprisingly tame for picky kids -- meat and rice. And the veggies are separate so they can taste what they want and leave the rest. I haven't checked pricing recently but I believe it's a good value in the dining plan.

My kids (ages 6-15 at the time) also enjoyed our ADR at 50's Prime Time.

My kids are pretty safe eaters. They all love Via Napoli in Epcot. They also like Kona and Boma for breakfast, Beaches and Cream (Beach Club), Sci-Fi and Grand Floridian Cafe.

I think Boma, the buffet at Animal Kingdom Lodge, is great for everyone because it has a lot more adventures things down to mac and cheese and chicken fingers style stuff. It is a GREAT place for kids who are picky to have a chance to try some familiar foods(roast beef, potatoes, and roast chicken for example) with some different seasonings.

Plus, you get to go to Animal kingdom lodge which is just a great resort to walk through. You can head outside to the savana and look at animals or look at the art in the huge lobby, for example.

Thanks everyone! Some great ideas on here and definitely some places I would not have thought of. I plan to share these and let the girls have a vote. Now that it has turned into a trip for just us girls I think they will enjoy having some say in the planning.

Letting kiddos chose meals/restaurants is always a way to ensure peace in the valley:).

I would see if the girls have any interest in Raglan Road. The dancing is spectacular!

Boma and Biergarten have been my son's two requested restaurants since he was about 8. He was a picky eater back then. He's a bit more adventurous now at 16 but those are still his two favorites.

Teppan Edo
Liberty Tree Tavern
Boma
Hoop Dee Doo Revue (I know you said 1 credit only but just in case you change your mind. Lots of fun & lots of good food!)

My girls (10&13)
Love Biergarten
Along with Ohana, and 1900 PK breakfast
