I have the worst luck some times...:rotfl: I have a winter parka that ripped last night ***sighs*** of course it would happen in the middle of winter. I can't complain really because I've had the jacket for a good 7 years.

Anyway I've been playing on line thinking that with the end of season sales I'd be able to snag a bargain.

The prices I've seen for a north face, Cabelas, Columbia type down jacket have been 70-90 bucks. which I thought was the normal price.

Now I haven't purchased one for quite a while so if you guys tell me this is actually a pretty good price, that will make me happy. I trust my budget board compadres.

Is the 70-100 dollar range what I should expect or should I keep looking.
I checked out llbean, landsend, overstock.com and cabelas.

I have a Columbia down jacket that I paid $179 for. I love the jacket, it's warm but not too bulky, very comfy and looks great on. I would snatch it up at $70-$90!

I have a Lands End down jacket that I bought last year at the end of the season. I grew up in NY and in all my years, this is the warmest jacket I've ever owned.

This is it http://www.landsend.com/pp/SnowRoll...D&CM_MERCH=IDX_00002__0000000141&origin=index I think I got it for $50 at a Sears store.

For Christmas this year I bought my husband a Columbia jacket. It's one of their 3-in-1 jackets. He loves it. He has a Columbia from 9 years ago that has held up very well except for the juice stain he got on it a few years ago. This was to replace that. I spent $160 on the new jacket. If you find one for $70, buy it!

I love Lands End down jackets - they are unbelievably warm. I was just at Sears yesterday, and all of their Lands End down jackets were marked down, with an extra 30% off. I think they would end up being under $50. They didn't have my size, or I would've bought myself a new one - even though my old one is just fine! They had the cutest red one!

Lands End. I got the down one this year and I love it. I had a Columbia 3 in 1 a few years ago but the Lands End is much better quality much warmer, very comfy.

I had a down jacket from Land's End that was toasty warm. The zipper broke, though, and I returned it and took the store credit instead of a new coat. I'm regretting that decision now it's been below zero for a week! :)

Note: 40% off a regular priced coat at Land's End! It's on their website. Down jackets are $40 and up.

I have a down jacket from LL Bean and love it. It is so warm and it is light weight! I got it on clearance and i thinking it was around $30-$40.

LL Bean is having a clearance now on outerwear. I got the email, but haven't checked the prices. The only down jacket I've had was a Liz Claiborne (got it at TJMaxx for $30), I rubbed against cement and it ripped! I have a Lands End that is really old and still looks new, it's not down though.

If you go out to Lands End, be sure to check their OverStocks link. They have several down jackets in the 40-50 dollar range. I love my down jacket from them.

I have an L.L. Bean Baxter State Parka, which I love. It's super warm and light. It's so warm I had to leave it in the closet when I went home for xmas. I bought it for walking a mile to class in 10-20 degree temperatures, and it was too warm for winter back in MD! :goodvibes I had to wear my older wool pea coat.

It's more expensive than you were looking for, but they are having a sale as PP mentioned, and I feel their warranty and service and quality can't be beat.

Another vote for Lands End. I got a down parka there this year and LOVE it. I'm always freezing, and even when it was -9 here the other day, I was toasty warm. I bought mine online from the overstocks page.

Another vote for Lands End. I picked mine up at and end-of-season sale at Sears for under $50. I love it, it's very warm!
