Good prices for digital cameras

I've been lurking on this board quite a bit and soaking up the great information on here.

Now I have a question I hope someone can help with. DH and I are going at the end of January. We would like to get a digital camera for this trip and have been looking for quite a while. I like the Nikon or Fuji cameras. There were some decent sales before Christmas, but my mother in law went in for surgery and our lives were pretty hectic, so we missed out on many of the sales.

Does anyone know of somewhere that has good prices on digital cameras? Looking to spend between 200-300 for one?

We got our new digital camera from them last month. Retail price was $499, but they had it for $409. They had it cheaper than anyone else, so I would imagine they have good discounts on all cameras. Service was quick and I would recommend them.

You can go to Pricegrabber.com and compare prices for the cameras you like. Just be sure to check out the review of the merchants. Some times the cheapest don't offer the best service.

They have the nikon coolpix 5100 listed for 220 after 30 rebate. I have the 3100 and really like the camera.

I just bought a new CX7530 Kodak digital camera from best buy. It has a 3x optical zoom, 5x advanced digital zoom for a 15X total zoom, and is a 5.0 megapixel. The one thing I also love about it is it runs on AA batteries instead of a special camera battery.

Try BuyDig.com as well, they have prices that are so low they seem to be too good to be true. I have bought two cameras (a digital camera and camcorder) and they came promptly in great brand new condition. A friend had recommended them, and I would not hesitate to do the same. Check them out!

I agree with this as well, I have bought a film SLR and a camcorder from them. Incredible prices both times, and great quick service.

How do these cameras that use AA batteries work? I mean, how long do the batteries last? I dont want to be buying new batteries every month. We currently have the charger type and like it.

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot to mention -- when you are doing your price comparisons it's important to check and make sure whether the camera offered is brand new in package, or refurbished/like new. Some of the rock bottom prices I found were NOT brand new cameras. I used www.epinions.com to research and get price comparisons. Good luck!

Also, check at Target to look and hold and feel the cameras!! I got dh one for Christmas, and one thing I found out is that these manufacturers dont sell the same number at each outlet... so I went to a camera store, listened to someone that was experienced in cameras (it was Wolf Camera, they are a National chain) then I went to clueless Best Buy and circuit city... then I went to Target, and loved their prices, but I took what I learned from Wolf before buying an inexpensive camera.

I have a Canon 2megapixal, which they dont make, and lots of memory cards, I was upset I couldnt find a camera that still uses that memory card for my price range!! (under $150) I also learned that there is more than megapixels and zoom than I had thought!!

Always get NiMH rechargeable batteries. I've just bought a dozen from eBay for only $15 including shipping... and they are the 2700mAh kind (the most powerful on the market, currently).

By buying rechargeable batteries and the recharger, even if you use it only 3 times, you already get your money back. Please note that the capacity of the 2700 mAh NimH batteries are equivalent to an Energizer Lithium battery that costs about $4 per pair of AA.

Amazon has had amazing prices on digital cameras. You can get a 4MP very cheap there.

If you're not trying squeeze the last dollar www.newegg.com has good prices and dell has good prices when they're running a promotion, check techbargains.com for information.

Just remember, pixelcount means nothing. There are 8MP cameras out there that yield worse results than a 6MP camera.
