I’m looking at an SSR contract to use as SAP and it is for 250 points, with 500 to start with banked points from 2020.

Same UY as another resort we own which is nice and price is $116 a point?

Good, OK, or bad deal?

Thanks!

I think anything with extra points is a great bonus and I look at it as if I rent those points out at even as little as $10 per point it will help to bring down the overall purchase price. Just make sure you don’t pay the MF on the banked points from the previous UY, then there’s no savings.

Good way to factor in the extra points, does bring down the overall cost.

That all sounds good in theory, but you also would need to have the restraint to actually rent them instead using them yourself!

I’m doubting we will have restraint, but gives us an extra stay which is nice.

Even accounting for the banked points, I would still be offering less than $110 for that contract to start. I know the price has been rising, but ROFR hasn't claimed anything north of $103 in the last quarter. And Disney's going to be less interested in a larger cash outlay, so the fact that it's not stripped should actually help you.

Good luck - it sounds like a good fit for you!

Thanks for this feedback and I do wonder if prices have continued to increase which a lag with ROFR might not be capturing.

We are using the SSR points for Aulani, and as Aulani resale has gone up and with limited supply maybe others are doing the same?

The reality with all of this is that a couple of dollar difference in the price per point is something you won't feel for very long. It's really the dues that become the majority of the spend over time - so do whatever you want to do to ensure you'll pass ROFR. That makes perfect sense, as everyone's situation is different. Having just lived through the resale process for the first time, I can definitely say that waiting at all of the steps is the worst part. And the idea of going through that multiple times while you try to pass ROFR might be worth a couple of extra dollars per point. But that said, I don't think anything above $103 has been taken by ROFR within the past year, using this board and the DVC Resale site's ROFR report. But again, whatever's best for you, obviously - good luck!
