Good news thread

I keep coming back to read all the nice things happening to nice people!

Thanks for starting this thread, Pembo!

Not good news for me, but I posted a bit earlier that my cousin won the lottery. She is a single mom to a 7 year old daughter and works her butt off in a local grocery store.

She won $100,000 a year for life!!!!!! I am so happy for her (and a tad bit jealous!)

My good news came in a weird way, my Mom went for a scan to make sure her cancer has not returned and was told to get to the ER right away. They found a blood clot in her lung and 2 in her leg, the Dr. told her if the clot in her lung had went to the brain or heart they wouldn't be having that conversation. So, if not for the cancer test, they wouldn't have found the blood clots and thankfully the first one went to the lung and did no damage.

DD15 had conferences last night and she is doing great with her first year of high school!

We just returned from a 10 night stay in WDW and even though it was cold, we had a great time!

It is so nice to read about everyone's GOOD news! Thanks for sharing.

And please keep the stories coming. We all need to see the positive things in life. ::yes::

DH had a job interview yesterday that seemed to go very well. We are waiting to hear more news in the next day or two.

Both kids just got straight A's.

We are finally almost finished painting the main floor of our house.

Keep the good news coming. I love reading about it!! :thumbsup2

I've come this close to quitting teaching without really starting many times (can't find available positions, many districts are on hiring freezes, etc.)

Well anyway, two districts called me yesterday and I have two teaching interviews this week. One is pretty far away and one is a reasonable distance away but I'm just thrilled that 2 of the 70 resumes I sent out actually did something.

I had a corporate job interview two weeks ago and I should hear about that this week as well.

The job market is challenging for everyone, especially new graduates.

I spoke to my brother on the phone last night!!:cloud9: I have not spoken to him in over 10yrs. Last time I talked to him, he was a squeeky voiced kid...I spoke to a man about to be married last night:cloud9:

I cannot wait to talk to him again!

DH's company went through a merger and because of it DH got a promotion (in money and responsibility, same title). He now runs a $42 million operation. I'm so proud of him!

DD11 placed 10th in the county at the MathCounts competition. My little math geek!

DD10 is doing so well working her level 5 gymnastics skills and is a pleasure to spend my days with (she is homeschooled).

DS3 has the most amazing little imagination. He likes to bowl with a toy set and has started giving the "bowling balls" weights. "Hey mom, here's your 10 pound ball." Very funny!

I have wonderful friends and a dream of a family. I'm warm, well fed, and happy. What could be better? Oh, yea, and I have lost 8 pounds so far!

DD9's teacher called me last night to tell me she thought DD had been acting a little "off" lately. Not that it's good news, but it makes me very happy to know that her teacher cares so much about her.

good news:

Animal Crossing- Spork (pig) moved in my town! This is my daughter's favorite animal. We missed her from our first town (we had to rebuilt our town). I know I'm such an Animal Crossing fanatic. It's still good news.

Next week, the children are on vacation.. Woooohooo! I get to sleep in. It's really not a news, but hey.. just sharing my little joy here! :D

I have reconnected with my brother, who I had not seen or talked to in 9 years, yes, 9 years.

All of this happy news makes me fee so good, but I am always particularly moved when families reconnect. :goodvibes

I am going to Virginia this weekend to celebrate a nephew's 5th birthday! I can't wait. We're leaving Friday, and will be there until Tuesday. And I'll see a lot of the family--my older brother, sister-in-law & their 3, my baby sister, brother-in-law & their 2 girls (who live in NY but have been very busy, so I haven't seen them in a month), and my other sister.

I haven't thrown up in 3 days and trust me this is good news even if just for me lol

I am glad you are feeling better ... is there a reason you are throwing up so much? ;)

My good news is that we are all healthy, DH finished is resume and is sending it out looking for a new job and DS is starting to talk more. My mom is also coming to visit next week so I am really excited about that!!

I am alive, have a roof over my head, food to eat, a wonderful dh and 3 good ds, and I can breathe and eat a little better post surgery, I have so much to thank God for. Even the little things, sunshine and warmth, too bad I cant go out and enjoy it, I am going to be sniffing the air alot on my way to the blood test tomm.

So nice to see you posting luvmarypoppins! I hope that you have a speedy recovery. :)

My good news today - Our high risk maternal doctor gave us the pink slip.... We no longer have to go back to her after 6 months of frequent visits because our baby-to-be is progressing beautifully :)

Just got some good news in the mail - our house is paid off! :cool1: We bought it in 1986 - so 22 1/2 years. AND we got a rebate check because I had paid the full amount for this month's payment and we only owed sixty some dollars.

AND our gas bill wasn't as much as I had anticipated. So that was good news too! :)

This thread is working...some may call it bragging but it's nice to read good things for a change....let's keep it going

This thread is working...some may call it bragging ...

I don't consider anything that I have read so far to sound like bragging. It is just looking for the good in the every day. ::yes::

And to tell you the truth, I think that this thread breeds finding those positive things that happen to us every day. As you have seen, several times in the last 24 hours since you have started this thread, I have noted things as "good news" and "I need to share this on the DIS" - I am actually looking for (and finding) positive things in my life.

My guess is that if more people read and posted to this thread, that they would find more happy things in their lives too.
