Can't say I'm surprised.. This new guy they hired over there is pretty tough.. He basically said it didn't matter if I had pnuemonia - or if I was in the hospital recovering from a car wreck.. He wants every employee there - every day - and that's the end of the story..

Okay.....

Looks like it's back to doing eBay full-time - LOL..

I'm sorry to hear that. :( Hope you're ebaying goes well.

By the way, how's your husband feeling? Hope he's doing ok as well.

Hey, Take care of YOURSELF! Don't let this get you down!
You are ill and that is not your fault!
YOu got this job and if I recall you were conserned about that but you will be able to find another one!
Call the unemployment office and see if you qualify until you are back on your feet again.

I know this is easier said than done...but I just know when I am really sick everything seems so hopeless ...but it isn't!

Take care ! I'm sending some good thoughts and PD and Prayers if that would help too!

Lisa

C. Ann I'm sending a big  your way and will be keeping you in my prayers. Sounds like this jerk you WERE working for was not worth your time and effort. There must be a place out there who will appreciate you and the value you can add to their workforce!

Hang in there and spend your time recovering your strength. You need to be healthy to get back in the game, sweetie! Do your best to rest and take good care of you.

When you're ready, another BETTER door will open. :sunny:

Firing someone because they're sick sounds like it could be a labor board violation. Is that soemthing you're interested in looking into, or is it not worth your effort to pursue it???

This guy sounds like a sweetheart. Be glad you were his employee and not his wife. ;)
You dont need that at a work place, count your blessings. Best of luck to you!

As a manager and corporate officer this does not sound at all kosher to me. Do you mean to say he was allowed to do this to you with the appoval of HR? Did you check with HR? Sounds like grounds for a suit to me. They can't fire you because you're sick. You should have been put on a leave of absence.

Then again, who'd want to work for a jerk like that?

I agree with disney doll, at the very least you could collect unemployment.

tricia.

Oh my I'm really sorry. What a jerk! I would look into this. Document what he said when he fired you and then stick it too him. Good luck.

What an idiot! Obviously, he doesn't recognize a great employee when he sees one! So sorry, C.Ann. But you're probably better off without him!!! Something else will come up.

Well that sucks! Sorry you got fired!

Our old nurse manager was very much like the boss you described, it didn't matter if you were bleeding to death down in the ER, if you were calling in sick, it counted against you, even if you had a doctor's note to prove that you were in fact ill/injured. I remember being told once "doctor's notes hold no water here."

Thankfully our new nurse manager isn't like that and is more compassionate!

Use this extra time off to your advantage and good luck!

Oh...what a JERK!!! I'm so sorry that happened to you & I would look into it further!! What a JERK!! (oh...sorry, I already said that, didn't I?)

Anyway, do you really want the stress of working for a JERK like that? I wouldn't!

What a JERK! Remember, what goes around, comes around!

Ditto.

I wouldn't let him get away with it. If you are fired, you can't get unemployment. If you fight the reasons you are fired, the least that should happen is you would be "laid off" and collect Unemployment benefits.

Take care and hugs. I'm sure it's hard.

That really does stink.

Hang in there! I know you recently went back. I know you will be able to find something else, and work for a more flexible employer!

 Sorry to hear that, C.Ann, you will be on top of things though in no time, my best.
