Good idea to stay off-site to save weekend points? Or NO WAY!

I don’t do waitlists often, but they way it works is you first reserve your 5 days at Saratoga. Then go thru the reservation process again, but select OKW for the same 5 days (I don’t know which is easier to get....regular studio or close to hospitality house). It will come up as waitlist only. Then it will ask you if you’d like to make a waitlist. And then it will ask you if you want to replace an existing reservation if your waitlist is filled...it will show what reservations you have. I strongly suggest having member services help you. If your waitlist comes thru close to your travel dates you will have extra points that you may not be able to bank. It is really confusing, but gets easier with practice.

We are going over Easter so high point season- we decided to stay the weekend at the Dolphin before moving to Boardwalk to save points (was able to use it for another trip!). Got a decent deal so it's worth it to us (and we can just walk our luggage over to the Boardwalk)

Your concern about lack on shuttle. Would you do uber or whatever? I've never used a service like that before so I have no idea how it works, but many use them for running to a store and such.

Yes. Uber is an option. But having lived 15 min from parks for 5 yrs until recently, my goal is to put as little thought into transportation as possible. That 15 min ride often took over an hour w/traffic from my area & it became 15 min just to get onto property & into a park to 'park.'

I'm Chapek's worst nitemare :rotfl2: Nearly annual trips since '72. My great pleasure now is just "being" there.
No schedule or agenda (except meals). No "must-do's" (except a few meals 😁)... DEFINITELY no Genies !!! Just wondering everywhere & enjoying being in 'the bubble.'

As to WDW less than wonderful bus transportation, I learned long ago to begin to leave a park at least an hour before I'm too tired to wait for a bus or boat.

And happy ending...I booked SS, wait-listed OKW (not hopeful), & book-ended with "Good Neighbor" property.

Thanks to all for help given!

Yeah, just take a Lyft. Faster and more frequent that a shuttle-less need to plan ahead.

Depends on the trip. It with friends and children probably easier to stay on the Disney bubble. If just me and my wife I always consider all options :-)

Oh yes. I'm reading that. But I have NO schedule; NO "Must-Do's" I was looking at Hilton near DS with 30 min shuttles (so they say) or it's walkable to DS...

That makes sense, Tomorrow bright & early.

Hope you know you're an angel who really helped me out today.😇

Thank you for the kind words.

Great! So glad you figured things out and have a plan in place. You never know with waitlists. Although from what I’ve been hearing the recent room renovations at SSR are really nice.

Weekend points are not that bad anymore. Years ago they were about double the points as a weekday point but dvc fixed it. Now it’s nothing to worry about.

Thank you for the kind words.

Was just going to reply! Yes...I think I'm not even disappointed now about SS. Realized being near DS gives me lots more options for food than OKW so I can dig into a greater variety when I'm not in parks.
And I meant every word :littleangel:
