Good Idea/Bad Idea

A few months ago, while I was daydreaming about Disney and brainstorming about ways to make the days more magical, I had the greatest idea. Like, the absolute best idea. No one had ever thought of this idea. I, the all-knowing, all-powerful mom had come up with a solution to the terrible curb seating discomfort. You see, I would buy a small, collapsible camping stool for this very occasion. Just think, pull the stool out of your backpack and voila! Comfort and freedom from back and tail bone pain! I'm so slick, right? Then I did about 2 minutes of research to find out that, not only am I not so original, but also that this very tactic is against park rules and they will confiscate your comfy little seating solution. C'est la vie. I probably wasted 20 minutes pricing out those things. I'll never get that time back.

I was wondering about what brilliant ideas you have tried to execute that have backfired. I am usually the one shaking my head at someone at the parks in a knowing, sympathetic way as I see them making rookie mistakes and I'm always desperate to offer them helpful advice like, "Don't bother" and "That's not going to work, believe me" and "Do you really think that no one is watching you?"

I want to hear about the crazier things that have gone wrong even though the idea seemed genius at the time.

About 8 years ago on one of our early trips, I thought I would be so smart to buy a 6 day ticket for a 5 day trip and go to two parks in one day without buying a hopper.

Luckily I read online that I couldn't do that before I was turned away at the gate.

Very easy. Getting a beer at Epcot when we were staying at an Epcot resort and trying to exit the park with the beer. Nope - can't bring in alcohol, can't take out alcohol unless it's a closed bottle of wine. Oh - can't get a bottle of wine sent back to your resort either.

On our first trip I thought I was a genius parking my rather short family behind a mom and dad with a double stroller for wishes because my kids could stand behind the stroller and see over it. As soon as the show started mom and dad picked the kids out of the stroller, stood behind it and hoisted both kids on their shoulders. We couldn't see a thing

My rollator has a seat btw and you can get canes with a little seat. Well they can't take that off you.

I had the good idea to save money on a frosty towel by freezing a small wet towel. Got a few of them and brought them to the resort smug as you like to find they had removed the freezer sections of the fridges.. Also was going to freeze water bottles to take in. My plan was foiled.

I thought the long island ice teas at Jellyrolls were weak, so I had the great idea of drinking several of them. Bad idea...they were not weak.

We stay at the BWI and on many an afternoon saw guests on the boardwalk with alcoholic drinks in hand and of course saw a lot of guest walking around the world showcase with drinks in hand so I thought what could be wrong with getting a Grey goose slush drink in France and sip it on the way back to the BWI? I was quickly stopped at the gate and told to dump it or drink it, I couldn't walk out the gate with it! Learned from my mistake as I noticed many people putting their drinks into the resort mugs before walking out the gate and not a word was said to them. The CM at the gate just ignore what is happening and let them walk out the gate.
