good fish/meat market

hi all. i'm looking to make a nice dinner while at bcv. anyone know of a place where i can get sushi quality fish and prime beef for a special night? thanks. terry

do a search...we found a couple a few months ago...you might search on butcher as well.

We have shopped at Publix in the Ft. Myers area for the last 10 winter seasons. The quality of their fresh fish is very high. I would expect the same in the Orlando area. Don't know about the prime beef. Publix handles US Choice and so does Winn Dixie.
Also Publix does fresh Sushi.

I'll vouch for the sushi at Publix...I'm hooked on the stuff! They make it fresh every morning around 10am. Yum....

They do carry nice meat and some good fish as well. The prices for seafood here in Atlanta are not bad (but we're spoiled since we get about 25 pounds of gulf shrimp each summer from DH's grandmother).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I haven't found the quality that your looking for at any of the local supermarkets. Probably due to the amount of people in the area on vacations and also there are many areas with "older folks". The quality I have found is okay but I wouldn't say sushi quality or from a butcher shop like many of us from the northeast are accustomed to.

Despite much effort, and four different markets, I haven't had any luck finding true sushi quality ahi.

As for a good meat market, try Mannequins at Pleasure Island.

I've seen good sushi in the restaurants but not in the store. Actually, I've been surprised that all the shrimp in the stores I've seen is frozen imported stuff, not florida. Maybe someone knows better than me though.
