There's been a lot of posts of people's favourite off-site restaurants. :thumbsup2 I was wondering if there were also suggestions for good, cheap family-fare restaurants close to Disney that are appropriate for younger kids. (meaning: fast, friendly, kid-appropriate menus)

Last time when we stayed at Cypress Pointe, my DDs enjoyed CiCi's pizza, Steak & Shake, and they really liked Chevy's at the Crossroads. They didn't like TGIFs so much because the service tended to be slow and not as suited for young kids.

What are some of your favourite family dives? :flower3:

Ci-Ci's as you say and it is close to Cypress Pointe. Also Golden Coral for good buffett (Children welcome)

The Kobe Japanese Steakhouse at the East Gate entrance 1 1/2 miles east of DTD and is a great place for kids and they have a Pizza place there as well that is very good and decently priced. These are located in Lake Buena Vista, take Hotel Plaza Blvd east from DTD and go appx 1 1/2 miles to the 535 intersection continue east through the lights and you will see Uno Pizza on your right and the Kobe Steak house is back behind the shopping center on the left.
Also, Orlando Ale House is left at the 535 intersection go 1 block to the next light go left on Winter Garden Vineland Road about 200 ft on the right will be the Orlando Ale House.
Have fun!!

we loved C' C s  . Dh did not care for it though. :confused3

Yes, that's why I started this thread... it's not necessarily the best quality food per se, but it's good value that the kids appreciate ;)

Be sure to pick up the coupon books in the area. I know there's a coupon for Golden Corral and probably some for the other restaurants.

I find there is a difference in C's C's. The one in Crossroads Shopping area near Cypress Pointe and Vistana is always good and very clean

We love it there--it's fun and inexpensive. We don't have a Bennigan's here in Pittsburgh, so we always make sure we go in Orlando. There are a few locations--we usually go to the one on 535. It's really close to DTD and the outlets.

My kids loved Ponderosa. You can just buy the buffet for younger kids and they can get to the food straight way. The main meals take around twenty mins to come but the kids are occupied with their food. There are loads of different things on the buffet and my kids loved to try a bit of everything. Its very cheap too.

My nieces always like Perkin's at the Crossroads.

On our last trip (July '07) we bought an entertainment book for Orlando. The book was not only a great money saver with all the coupons in it, but it also gave us PLENTY of ideas on where to go!

Just a little warning about Kobe. We always took the boys there every year and they loved it. We took our DD there on her first trip and as soon as the grill flamed, she screamed and ran out the door. She was only 4 and thought the building was on fire. It use to be an every trip event, but she is now 11 and we have never been back! You may want to warn them up front about the flames. Oh and there are usually lots of good coupons out there for Kobe.

Bahama Breze has something for everyone in the family. My kids love the smoothies that come with the kids' meals. We eat there at least twice while on vacation at WDW

They just opened a Miller's Ale House here in my town and we really really liked it. Can you tell me how to get to this location from Disney?

Thanks
Kim

I would not recommend the Golden Corral on 192 near Windsor Hills. We ate there last week with my parents (they love the one near our house in VA) and it was horrible. The food was not replenished frequently, the bathrooms were atrocious and they were even out of kids cups with lids. I don't particularly like any Golden Corral, but even my parents thought this one was really bad.

I am watching this thread with interest because we are a family of six with 4 teenagers and they are really not happy with McDonalds etc (neither are we truthfully). I am hoping for good ideas.

But - I have to say - we went to TGIF's in our area over the holidays and it was a $120 dinner without any alcohol.......this does not seem inexpensive to me....is it because we are in Ny?

We had Golden Corral down in St. Petes last time we were in Florida and I was NOT impressed at all....but it was $100 for 7 of us and every else liked it.

You should definitely check out the Orlando Ale house, the food is very good, very plentiful and very reasonably priced. They just opened one in my town, and we ate there yesterday, dh and I loved it and are talking about going back there this weekend. I think the most expensive meal on their menu is the 14oz porterhouse steak for $14.99, that is really inexpensive in my opinion. Good food, happy sports bar atmosphere, and plenty of items on the menu to choose from, they had taco salad and country fried steak as their lunch specials both 4.99 ea. go to millersalehouse.com and check out the menus, prices and locations, it looks like there are about 8 different locations in the area. HTH

Thanks.....my husband will enjoy that atmosphere and we both will like the prices....off to check it out.

OMG - theres one coming to Long Island in 2008 - Is that a coincidence or what!!
