Good Carryon

I personally would pick up a 4 wheel spinner instead of a 2 wheeler. I know some people have had issues with wheels breaking off but I've had my Samonsite spinner for 3 years, travel frequently (1 or 2 times a month), and haven't had any issues with the wheels. It is much easier to maneuver in the airport and I like being able to turn it sideways to get down the tight plane aisles.

If just bringing an under seat suitcase on the plane - what do you pack in it for a week at WDW?
Do you do laundry during the week?
Not buy any souvenirs?

We would need to bring
Toothbrush and tooth paste
Suntan lotion
Hair bush, shaver, shaving cream. contact lenses stuff and sun glasses

How many t-shirts ? Shorts? Extra sneakers? Flip-Flops?

We would go to WDW the first week of May. :)

Thank you for your advice on packing minimum

I haven't brought my ebags backpack to Disney for a weeklong trip, so I can't help there. I DID bring it to Disney for 4 nights and packed my stuff along with my son's clothes in it (we each also had one more small bag). I utilize the packing cubes and feel like that saves so much space. I bring things that fold compactly like a sundress that won't wrinkle, a running skirt and tank tops, one pair of shorts (I dislike shorts and only have one pair), simple PJ's, Croc flats, and wear my gym shoes on the plane. I tend to only bring just what I need, along with travel sized bottles of toiletries which could then be tossed once used up.

If you read the reviews to this bag (linked below), you will see what other people have packed in it.

We don't buy souvenirs except for pressed pennies, an ornament, a pin, and maybe one other small item. I am very realistic as to what I will actually enjoy when I come home (though I could buy out World of Disney when I am there, I know that I won't use/wear/need any of it once home).

I also have become a HUGE fan of packing cubes after reading about them on the Disboards. I have 4-5 of the Ebags cubes. I need to add that the Eagle Creek Spectre cubes have taken over my bags instead.

I have purchased most of mine on eBay for a reasonable price

Thanks, everyone, for the input!

How strict are they on the width for a carry on? The two I am looking at are 14.5 wide which meets SW guidelines of 16, but not United, Delta, or AA, which are 14. We almost always fly SW due to price, direct flights available, and free bags, but there is an off chance that we wouldn't be able to at some point.

Last time I check, American's rule was actually "45 linear inches" and the specific dimensions were just an example. I see folks carrying on garment bags all time, which are much wider, but thinner. Personally, I carry a Briggs & Riley Transcend Widebody, which measures 15.5" wide and have never had any trouble on any airline; AA, Delta, United, Jet Blue, or Southwest (and probably a few others that don't exist anymore).

I was hoping that someone would bring this one up. I got one for Christmas and I keep wondering if it'll really fit under a seat on a plane. Do you know?
Yes! My MotherLode Junior fits perfectly under the seat on SW. I use it as my personal item and then I also have an eBags hybrid spinner that I put in the overhead bin. The backpack is for my clothes, toiletries and anything I want easy access to in flight. The spinner bag gets packed with food, shoes, a jacket and anything else I won't need easy access to while we are in the air. On the way home, I sometimes have leftover grocery items that cannot be carried on like liquid laundy detergent, shampoos or sunscreen. That stuff gets thrown into the spinner and I check it on the way home.

Other than the padded pouches, I have everything you listed...and I love it all.

EBags has the best customer service. I bought a MotherLode Jr. for each of us. When the plastic clip on my DD's broke after one flight, rendering it unusable as a backpack, I called them to see if it could be repaired or if they could send me a replacement part. They have a lifetime warranty on their products, and much to my surprise, they actually sent me a brand new bag....and told me to keep the "broken" one! I gave it to my dad who now uses it Asa laptop case when he travels. He loves it......it's purple, but he doesn't care. It works fine as a suitcase.

This is good to know as my experience with customer service at both Samsonite and TravelPro has been abysmal.

I've had OK customer service with TravelPro. What gets covered depends on line of bag you buy. I have a cheapie TravelPro spinner that's about 4 years old and one of the wheels broke. It called customer service was very nice and the replacement wheel was easy to install and not all that expensive. My DH is a road warrior and he's always used TravelPro. His current one is a TravelPro Platinum Magna that he's been using for 3 years and his warranty does cover wheels (not that he's had to use it). @supersnoop, we were considering Briggs & Riley when my DH's last bag died, but I got a great deal on the TravelPro.

We have 2 of these American Tourister Splash. We have gone on several week-long trips to Disney (and even a 9 day cruise) with no need to do laundry using just carry-ons!

There is a newer version with spinners but I do not like spinners - they break and take up more room. Have had our bags for 4 years with no problems, and they look great. I have wanted an Ebags Mother Lode mini (21") what seems like forever but DH told me I had to wait until our Splash bags are trashed ;)

I had originally looked at Briggs & Riley, but it was just too expensive, so I ended up getting an Eagle Creek carry-on instead. It was still a little pricey at $200, but DH travels all the time for work and his still looks brand new after 5 years. We haven't needed it yet, but they are supposed to have good customer service and warranty coverage too.
He has this one, but it's an older model and no longer available: http://www.ebags.com/product/eagle-creek/ease-2-wheeled-upright-22/231547?productid=10183009
You should be able to find a current model for under $200 with a little time on Google.

Travelpro fans here. We have a slightly smaller one with 4 wheels that we both use for work travel and are amazed at just how much we can pack in it.

Same here. I have the same suitcase in the slightly smaller size. I'm happy with it.

The Motherlode....yes...but I don't know if I will spend that much just yet.

I don't like the spinners either. I have looked at some and they just look like they would break way too easily.

Do you ever have any problems carrying it on? I see that the width is 14.5, which is no problem with SW, but United and AA have a 14 width maximum. We try to stay with SW (cheaper rates, more direct flights for where we fly from, free bags), but there could be the chance that we have to fly with another airline. Who do you normally fly with?

I have also looked at this bag. They actually had one at my local WM, so I have looked at it, pulled it around, etc. And I like it. But....the 14.5 width is holding me back...

I LOVE the samsung set they sell at Costco. You can find it on amazon without the bigger one, but at Costco the bigger one is included almost free. We are on our third now (I let my dad have the first, and we bought a new one. Now my husband wants his own).

The spinner wheels are excellent, and it fits a lot. I've packed for 3 week trips in it. You can't expand it and still fit carry on, but it's nice to have the expansion option if I over-purchase.

We have flown SW (our preferred airline as well), AA and United and have never had a problem with them. I do know that there are some changes coming to the big airlines regarding carry-ons (extra fees, different dimensions). Saw it on the PointsGuy facebook page.
