Hey everyone, I need some help here..

Let me start off from telling you why I'm getting a new camera, then I'm going to ask what camera would be best to get.

This week I went to a concert took my Sony camera, it's an old Sony camera, not too old but its a Cyber-shot 4.1 Mega Pixels, MPEGMovie VX Smart Zoom DSC-P41 -- While at the concert I was taking pictures (no why else would I take a camera? lol).. and when I wanted to take the movement/picture it would turn out blurry, or not even turn out at all. I had been sitting behind a few people who had some Really great cameras, where they take the shot you want and it turns out really great!

So, here's my question, I'm wanting to branch off from buying Sony, (don't get me wrong, Sony is a great company, I should know, I have a Handycam from them that works really well but it doesn't seem to have a flash on it, lol). But that's besides the point, I'm looking for something small/thin, something that will fit into my pocket easily. A camera that has great quality, takes great photos, the color turns out great, takes what you want, and a camera that is not so terribly expensive but has a 5* rating. I'm starting to look into these types of cameras:

Nikon: http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/coolpix/s710/index.htm
^It's thin/small, something I'm looking for.

Olympus: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1361
^It looks really cool, it's small and thin, too.

What I want to know is what camera would be best to get, what's the best rating a camera that is small/thin, and I'd like to hear from all of you on what you think would be a good camera. It doesn't have to be from what I've been looking into, it can be different.

Thanks for reading this far if you did! :)

According to the most critical reviews on Amazon for both, they each say that the image quality isn't as good as it should be. Not sure if that would be a problem or not though.

I'm planning on getting this camera:

I don't think it's small and thin though.

The last camera I had was a Canon Powershot A720 IS. It took great photos, and I enjoyed using it, especially for macro shots, which I love to take.

depends on what you want
DSLR i would buy straight from the camera store or an authorized reseller. but caution no DSLR is going to be cheap!

Point and Shoot your best value would be Overstock.com seriously i have seen point and shoot cameras on there for next to nothing.

Nikon Vs. Olympus i would go with Nikon...IMHO better picture quality.:thumbsup2

i think basically any product from Nikon will be good.

I have an Olympus FE280, and that thing is my baby doll..lol
It takes GREAT pics! And there are a bunch of settings on it so you can get great pics no matter what the circumstances are.
My camera is like, 2 years old, and the only problem I've ever had was fine sand getting into the lens when I took it to the beach last summer. And it was under warranty, so it was fixed right away.

I have an Lumix DMC-FS3. I got it at best buy. Its a great camera. Kinda thin. I really can't remember the price(I don't think it was very expensive).

I just got an Olympus Stylus 6000 Tough. The image quality is A LOT better than my old Cybershot and Nikon Coolpix. It's also waterproof up to 10ft. (not sure if the specific model you want is) and shockproof up to 5 ft.

The Canon Elph series of camera's are really good if your looking for some thing small, and easy to use. I would recommend it or anything else by Canon.

I have an Olympus 790 SW.

It might be waterproof but DON'T BUY IT.

It has too much delay in taking the picture.

I don't really know what kind of "Camera" to look into. But I did get a good video camera... and for a good deal. It was the Flip Video Camera. I got it in white for $50. The only thing that sucks i that it only records 30 mins tops!
But when i go to disney in 24 days I am going to bring my laptop so I will transfer the videos there and save them. The videos that you make on the camera can go onto Youtube AOL video and anyother online places that let you put videos on the website! It was a good buy for me!:thumbsup2

I've taken what all of you have said into consideration and looked more into the cameras. I'm now stuck between either getting a Nikon or a Canon camera. The thing is though, I'd like to compare the two and see which one I like more.

I've now started looking into this Nikon camera, as I stated in the first post: http://imaging.nikon.com/products/imaging/lineup/digitalcamera/coolpix/s710/index.htm

Or this camera that is from Canon: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=18144

I looked on youtube and found a great video talking about the Canon camera which I really liked a lot. I also found a video talking about the Nikon one, too. But, the video for the Nikon one didn't really help that much... I guess I'll have to go look for myself in Best Buy or something.

Thanks everybody for your input on different cameras! It's very much appreciated. :) Any other opinions on cameras would be great, I'm still looking and thinking on which one to get.

I'm a Canon girl. I use both a Canon point and shoot (the type you are looking into) and a Canon SLR (both film and digital). So my advice is to go for the Canon. I've been looking into getting a new point and shoot too because mine is trashed from concerts, plus not fast enough. But it is an old camera (like three or four years old and yes in the camera industry for point and shoots that is old...)
Go to Best Buy or a store like that around you and play with them. That's the best way to decide between two camera.s

I have a Nikon Coolpix S200, which it 7.1 megapixels, and I love it! Its small enough to fit into pockets and it goes everywhere with me. The photos are of great quality, and it also takes great action pics (I use it at track and field meets etc). I have had this camera for 18 months now, and my dad has just bought the more recent version of the Coolpix (not sure of the name), which is 10 megapixel and takes brilliant pictures. My mum has a Canon, and if I had the choice I would use the Nikon any day. Hope my ramble is of some use!
