Good Biography To Read

I'm looking for a good biography to read, also to present to the book club that I'm in as a choice for next year. We don't usually read biographies and I thought it would be a good change of pace.

Any recommendations?

I loved Dick Van Dyke's. There is one about the women who worked at NASA during the late 50's and 60's. I haven't read it yet but it sounded interesting. If the group is in their 60's perhaps the new Carol Burnett biography about her tv show would be interesting.

Those are all good possibilities. The club is a good mix of late 50's thru early 70's with an 80 year old mixed in the bunch. We can have some lively discussions sometimes.

Reading "Unbroken" you will be out of breath at the multiple adventures of Louie Zamperini, then you will
realize that you are only on page 100 and the extreme events in his life are yet to come.

It may be too simple and light, but Beverly Clearly's biography, A Girl From Yamhill, is really good and reads almost like a novel. I read it and loved it. Then passed it on to my 19 year old who loved it and passed it on to my motehr in law who loved and has had about 4 friends read it. So it seems to go over well for a variety of ages and interests.

Unbroken, The Boys in the Boat, any by David McCullough, Alexander Hamilton.

I read the unauthorized Steve Jobs biography this summer and was impressed with it. The book actually managed to make computers interesting. And it was refreshing to read something about Steve Jobs where he wasn't put on a pedestal.

Ooh, I'm adding that to my list! I always loved her books, and so did DS.

ETA - I just put in my hold on the library website, and there is a continuation volume called "My Own Two Feet" if you are interested! (I ordered both.)

Unbroken was really an amazing read. It is almost unbelieveable that all of those events were in 1 person's life.

Unbroken is probably the best one I have read.

I also really loved:
Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination That Changed America Forever
Book by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard

We read Killing Lincoln a year or so ago. I really liked it and so did most of the club.

I wish I could remember who wrote it, but Fred Astaire had an amazing and interesting life.
