Hi Jen. Good luck. I am getting "back on" myself. You can do it!

Welcome back! I returned to WISH about a month ago myself. Many of us are in the same boat.

I COMPLETELY understand what you mean about time and being exhausted. My job can be very hectic too. This is just my personal view, but on the days I cannot commit a certain amount of time to exercise, I feel it is better to instead try to control what I eat, or squeeze little bits of exercise in. For example, maybe I'll have a salad for lunch instead of a burger and fries. For exercise, if I can squeeze in a few minutes to walk out of the building and into town, I'll do that. Or I'll go the long way to the bathroom. Between floors, I take the stairs. I'm on the 4th floor, so I always try to walk down (walking up is a different story!).

I think you get the picture. For my body type, exercise alone doesn't help me lose a significant amount of weight, although I do feel better. I need to combine the exercise with controlled eating.

Good luck!

jen - it's nice to see you posting with us again! Boy, you have a busy and long work week. I don't work as many hours as you but several times per week I work from 8:30 to 5:00 and by the time I get home from work I head straight back out for bible study and don't get home until about 9:00 at night. I have found that forcing myself (and yes it was a struggle and it still is a sacrafice) to get up an extra 30-40 minutes early has made the difference for me in my Firm work out commitment. I curse the alarm when it goes off at 5:30 in the morning but I'm conditioned now to just get up, put on my work out stuff and get my work out done. I feel fantastic afterwards and have the added bonus of having more energy throughout my busy day.

You can do this!!! We will be here to support you. Just take it one day at a time and join us on the Firm thread. If that doesn't give you inspiration, nothing will!

Welcome to the Wish again. It is such a supportive place that I know you will succeed this time. I recently came back to Wish with a more determined and focused attitude to a healthier way of life.

At the moment I am studying for my Masters and three times per week after finishing work at 5 I go to night school. I am usually finished by about 9 and before heading home force myself to go to the gym. In my mind it is just something else I do before I can get home. I find that if I just go home and say I will go back to the gym I never do.

I'm not sure what your job entails but would it be possible for you to swap your meals around and have your larger meal your lunch and then a snack for dinner. I try and eat something before I leave work and that way I am not tempted to stop for anything before I go to the gym.

Best of luck.

Welcome back Jen:D

Its hard to find time to workout when you work long or strange hours(most my work week is 7pm-7am) - but when I recommitted to getting healthier back in March I FORCED myself to workout everyday - no matter how small a workout or what kind of workout I did - I DID IT! and now if I don't exercise I feel "ICKY" so I now want to exercise so I feel good and have more energy. It took about 3 weeks to feel this way. When I 1st started exercising it was just walk the dog 2 miles then I added some free wgts then I cleaned our basement out and found a "gym", exercise equipment that had been put down there over the years and now I jog the treadmill, do the stairstepper use our total gym. So TRY to find at least 30 minutes everyday to workout - you will be amazed on how GOOD you will feel!

Good Luck
Sue:D

Thanks everyone!!! i have tried to cut out most of the sweets and am eating healthier snacks now...(not easy when u work with kids and they are always bringing cookies or cupcakes in for snacks to sharE!!)...i take my lunch to work so that is my main meal for the day and for dinner i will have a light snack (grapes and yogurt or something)

You're doing a great job just getting through the week! Congratulations on maintaining a very difficult schedule.

One of the things that has helped my stay on track is how much better I feel when I eat well and excersize - even if it's just a little. Maybe you can do your whole work-out plan right away, but how about 10 minutes of walking a day just to clear your head and leave work behind?

Hang in there - you're awesome!
