Does anyone know if there are any decent golf courses near VB? I talked DH into extending our WDW trip for 3 days at VB and I told him he could golf while we we there. I am hoping that someone on these boards has been there and knows a good place to golf. Thanks for your help in advance.

My DH golfed at Sand Ridge. He said it was quite nice and really good price. We also drove down to PGA Village in Port St. Lucie and played one of their courses. Rained the day we were to play their second course. There are other courses in VB. I think some are listed in the members guide. The resort has a list of golf courses and can make tee-times for you.

Thanks for the infor Mona. DH will be happy to know that he can play golf while at VB. Sometimes it seems like the only way I can get him to go on vacation is to promise him golf dates.
But, I guess that is better than not going at all.:)

I know what you mean about DH's golfing! Mine, too. Now that I have more time, here's some more information on golfing at VB. Sandridge Golf Club (in 2001) was $20 for green fees and 1/2 golf cart M-F; $24 Week-ends and holidays. Green fees only (for those who walk) were $14 for 18 holes. They also had a summer twilight special on weekdays after 11am and week-ends after noon for $15.95 for unlimited holes. It is a 36-hole course. Phone number is 561-770-5000. Others listed were Sebastian Municipal 7705000; Whisper Lakes 567-3331; Dodger Pines 569-4400; Dodgertown 569-4800; Vista Plantation 569-2223; Vista Royale 562-8110; and Indian Pines 464-7018. If I remember correctly Indian Pines was really nice and more expensive. Don't know about the others. This was information from our 1991 trip. There may be others. VB Resort should have info on it. They even offer discounts on some places and can make tee-times for you. There are MANY great looking courses in VB, most of which are private and included in housing communities. It's an awsome place to dream about living in one of those areas. I remember one especially, I think it was Orchid something. Really nice!! VB has a pretty nice outlet mall just west of the interstate. Just east of the interstate was a shopping mall with movie theatres.

As I mentioned in my earlier post, PGA Village is in Port St. Lucie. They have two golf courses that received the Audubon award for not disturbing wildlife. We saw alligators, armadillos, snakes and all other kinds of creatures while we golfed there. It's probably an hour or so south of VB.

Have fun!

We'll be at Vero for 4 nites starting 6/8. My DH has plans to golf at Indian Pines one day (I think that was the name - all I know it it sounded expensive to me, ha!) I'll try to post a report when we return.

Thanks again for all the info Mona. Hate to say this, but my DH doesn't really care about the cost, he is just looking for a good place to play golf. He is playing 4 out of 6 days at WDW so you would think he would have enough golf, but no way. The only way I could talk him into 3 days at VB was to entice him with more golf.;)

Cinderelli,
We will be there just after you leave from June 12-15. I will have the laptop with me so post a report if you can and I can read it for DH. Thanks

I've played Sandridge and I thought it was a decent course for the cost. If possible advise him to avoid weekends as it can get busy. Midweek we almost had the course to ourselves.

Depending on how long he wants to dedicate to playing golf. there is a really nice "executive" course just north of the resort on A1A. It's called Aquarina and it is , IMHO a nicer course than Sandridge, but it is only a pay 60-61 because it has a high number of par 3s on the course. The "upside" of this is that it's really easy to get a round completed and back to the resort in less than 4 hours. If he is slightly pushed for time (i.e. is expected to do some parental duties during the vacation LOL) this might be a workable option for all of you. Aquarina has some quite challanging holes, interesting flora and fauna, IMHO better greens than Sandridge and gives your short game a good workout.

Oh and another point I forgot, in the height of summer the shorter round can be attractive as I find on a regular course I'm wilting on the last 2 or 3 holes. Aquarina is also very close to the sea so you benefit from any cooling breeze that's around.

We just returned from VB and played a relatively new course (2 years old I think) called The Links at Pointe West. Excellent facility with free range balls, a huge putting area and practice sand trap area. With a cart, it was only $25 per person...a great price. Very imaginative design with well-placed water and sand. We enjoyed it very much!
