We have reserved a golf cart for our next camping trip to FW. We camped at FW for our first time last Nov. and we wished we had one. I was wondering about what you do with them while you are at the parks. Do they lock? Do people bother them? I am also wondering about parking them if you go to the campfire. Is there a specific place we should go to park it while we are at the movie?
Any golf cart experiences you care to share? Thanks!

There are parking spots for the golf carts by the marina, the trading posts, and the campfire area. They won't start without the key, so as long as you take the key with you, it won't get stolen. Remember to plug the cart in when you park it, so it's fully charged when you get back! :)

Please remember to take your key--otherwise you will have to blame the 20 year old, walk all the way back to 1700 at 11 p.m. from the MK with a sleeping child in a stroller, ride your bike to the Bike Barn at 7 a.m. to get the CM to make you another key and ride to the Marina to meet the CM with the new key, and then feel guilty because your key was used by someone to take several golf carts on a joy ride that night.

I guess we were lucky that our golf cart was so (over)decorated that they didn't take it and they left us the keys to the motorhome!

Oh man! Thanks for that heads up!:earseek:

Do they ever run out of parking places? If so, then what do you do? I would hate to be in a hurry to catch a boat and then have no place to park.

You can always find a spot--maybe not a spot with a plug but a patch of curb.

We LOVED our cart :)

I think there was only one time out of maybe six that all the marina plug in spots were taken for us at the marina, but like campingcorgi says you can always find curb space.

Can anyone tell me how the rental goes? Is it timed from noon to noon?

Thanks :)

Although the cart cost more than the campsite for a week,we loved having it! So much fun to drive to Trail's End, the marina or the trading posts.

The golf carts really do make a big difference in how much we enjoy all that FW has to offer. We cannot afford to get one for our entire stay but we always try to get one for at least part of our stay. Anyone staying for the first time should get one at least for their first full day at the campground. They will help you get your bearings and let you explore the entire campground. If you have small children that you do not feel comfortable letting ride their bikes or ridding with you on yours the golf carts are a real life saver. There is always somewhere you can park. There are even a couple of places that we park to watch the movie from the cart like a drive-in.

A good tip is to reserve at least 1 day before you arrive and you will be allowed to pick it up before the normal 1PM pickup time at no additional charge as long as they have one ready to go. If you just walk up they will not let you have one until 1PM and there is usually a long line of people waiting for returned carts. Also if you are not sure about how many days you will want the cart, reserve it for your entire stay so you will be sure to have one and if you decide to not keep it they will refund the unused time with no penalty.
