he has played the dis courses ( I drag him off the course to go to the parks) He said play osprey ridge. But he recommended do not keep score or play best ball. This is an amazing and beautiful course according to my dh. He also is saying playing other than peak hours may keep your play less anxious.

Wow, how do you get him off the golf course? I swear DH doesn't know there are theme parks there too!
I'm another who would highly recommend Oak Trail. Several years ago, DH took DS there for DS's first ever round of golf. Here's DH, practically a scratch golfer, with DS, who's never played before. The reason I'm such a fan of Oak Trail now is that both players, of opposite abilities, enjoyed playing it. DH wasn't bored it was "too easy", DS wasn't frustrated that "it was too hard". So I think it's a great course.

One thing not asked above is whether you have an annual pass. There is 30% discount with that for those before 10 a.m. times when the courses otherwise run from about $85 to $110 (depending on course) during the summer (one pass gets the discount for up to four players in a group). After 10, those regular prices are almost cut in half and the DVC after 10 discount takes off about $10 to $25 a round from those reduced after 10 prices.

Dh and I have played golf numerous times while at WDW. My favorite is the Magnolia course; it has the mickey bunker. Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines are more challenging courses than the Magnolia and Palm courses. As for playing at 3:00 in the afternoon in florida in August...there's a reason why the rates are cheap because most people would die of heat exhaustion. August is considered low season, so the morning rates are cheap if one of you buys the DVC membership for $50. In the new edition of Vacation Magic on page 3, it lists member perks. Read "Save some green." It discusses the prices. It's true that you don't get the discount until 10am, but that's better than 3pm when temps reach their peaks. What ever you decide, you'll enjoy the beauty of any of the courses. They're well maintained and worth whatever price you pay.

Would you approximate the final cost for a round of gold, say, toward the end of April with all the discounts factored in? What's the bottom line cost if you have an AP discount, DVC discount and after 10 am cost basis?

Times of year make a big difference. When you say end of April you are very close to when the courses go from the highest cost of the year (which begins mid-Jan) to their "summer" lowest rates of the year. This year the change will occur May 1 but some years it is a little earlier in April. If you are still in the highest time of year, the regular cost per round until 3 P.M. ranges from $125 to $160 (depending on course -- Osprey is the highest -- and weekends are a little higher). Thus, with the DVC card, the price for the round is $89 for all courses and all days after 10 and as a result you will save anywhere from $35 to $70 per person per round. Note, after 3, the regular price is cut in half and the DVC discount no longer applies.The 30% annual pass discount would apply to the regular price all day until 3 and you can do the math. To qualify for the DVC discount you need to first buy the annual discount card for $50 plus tax; the AP discount requires only the AP. Note, you cannot combine any discounts; you can choose to use only one at a time. Also to any prices, you have to add the 6 1/2% sales tax.

Once you hit summer season, the regular rate before 10, to which the AP discount applies ranges from about $85 to $110;after 10 the regular rate goes to $45 to about $60 and the DVC rate is $35 then and thus the savings is not as large as during high season. The twilight after 3 rate in summer is only $25 to $30, to which no DVC or AP discount applies. Doing twilight in summer, like during August, presents a high risk of getting rained on as most storms during that time of year are late afternoon to early evening.

Note, we tend to use the DVC discount when we go during high golf season and the AP discount in summer for early morning rounds because the heat after 10 is brutal.
