Anyone remember the Coca-Cola show? :confused3
That silly little show brings back so many memories for my family. We went EVERY year my family went to DL when I was growing up. My dad was ALWAYS picked out of the audience to participate in the show due to his shiny bald head. :rotfl: It was something we could count on every trip. My question is the show similiar to what it used to be when it was the Coca Cola show? Is it something that a 4 year old would sit through? How long is it and do they still require advance reservations? Is lunch still a sit down type thing?

I don't remember the Coca Cola show, but I can tell you a bit about the show that currently runs there. The group that performs is called Billy Hill & the Hillbillies. They are a bluegrass band and are very talented and very funny. There are three different teams that perform on different days. I prefer to go when Kirk Wall is performing since I think he's is the ultimate Billy. He's there on Sat-Wed.

I always make my kids go to a show. It honestly isn't their favorite thing at DL -- I mean, it isn't a ride afterall, but I usually pack a lunch into the parks the day I know we will see the Billies and we eat while we watch the show. My oldest two have learned to enjoy it especially now that they get the jokes. My kids know that it's mommy's special treat to see her beloved Kirk perform, so they let me have that right without too much complaining. ;)

You don't need reservations, but you want to get there at least 20 min prior to showtime to get a good seat. They sell food in there, so you can grab a table first (put your bags or something to save it) then go get something to eat.

HTH.

Perfect! Thank you so much DM. :thumbsup2

I remember that show!!!! I was picked once to help play a trombone. They gave me a big old lollipop. That was a LONG time ago, but I still remember it vividly.

The new show is great too. My girl LOVED it last year because she loves music and to dance. She was upset when it was over. I am sure A will like it if he enjoys music. They are very talented and :rotfl2:

Well I didn't know that was his schedule. Thanks! I guess I have always been lucky and saw his group only. Probably because we usually do weekends.

I have to pipe in about kids going. My DD14 saw them this last Christmas and really loved them. They are just plain fun, and do spoofs on popular songs too. I guess what I am saying that teens like them too. :goodvibes

we would of went there if we would of been 5 mins earlyer they had closed the line off becouse a birthday gang was going lol

so we ate at the little place out side and to be honest i think it was my fav food besieds the shrimp at goofys

We like the show. My kids are now 9 and 5 and they loved the show last year. We like to eat there also, but I recommend the chicken over the fish. We had the fish twice and both times it was mushy - yuck! The chicken fingers are really good. DH and I prefer the apples over the french fries. We always get 2 big bags of apple slices per order. Oh, yeah, 3 orders of chicken with fries or apples always fills up the 4 of us.

Anyone know how many shows there are a day? How long is each show?

There are five shows daily, playing at 11:15am, 1:00pm, 2:30pm, 4:00pm and 5:15pm. Each show is about 30 minutes long.

Here's a little somethin to wet your appetite. . .

I remember the old show.. I loved it.

Can't wait to have lunch there. Thanks for the tips on timing :-)

I poked around and found this link.. http://www.jansworld.net/golden_horseshoe_pages/gh_main_page.htm

seems there is going to be a reunion of sorts March 29th 2008 (scroll down to the bottom to see the add for it.)

Laurabearz what a wonderful link!!! Thank you! That old show just brings back so many memories from family trips. My cousin just put together a dvd of old videos my grandparents did on probably 8mm video so I have one full Coca-Cola show complete with the can can girls. It was such a fun show....I can't watch it without having tears in my eyes because it just brings back so many memories of past trips....something I'll never forget. I sure wish I was going to be there March 28th. What a show to see.

I have to say even though as a kid sometimes I would have rather been on rides I have such amazing memories now of the Golden Horseshoe. Twice I got picked and loved it! My grandmother would rush us down to GH first thing every time we went to DL, to make sure we got our reservations in for that day. I love those memories.

My Sister and I were joking about these times and so we decided to go see the Hillbillies and it was hysterical. We had seen it once before, and though it had been a while it was still a lot of fun. There was some small kids in the front row they made jokes with the kids and everyone had a great time. I am happy we saw the last Christmas show of the season. We will definetly be back!

I remember the Can Can girls also. I was about 18, in the middle of summer, and my parents had taken myself, by brother, and 3 nephews (then 12, 10, and 7) to DL! I also remember my dad "having to make reservations" and rushing to do so. Someone from home must of clued him up about the show as there was no Web like there is now back in 1990!!!! I also remember I think having lunch or another meal, and my nephews being "bored out of their brains". The funny thing is I know DD would of loved the Can Can dancers. I think it would make a good lunch stop - eat and watch the show at the same time. Perfect!!

Just to let you know, the CanCan girls are no more. The current show is a Blue Grass band and comedy show. Its very fun, you can eat in there. But it is sadly not the old show anymore. But still worth a watch if you have the time. They are fun!
