Golden BD ideas on DCL?

Actually I don't really think it will matter too much about that we are on a Disney cruise or not to get ideas from you guys that have planned this special BD for their kids. The only caveat? Our little man will be 2 on his golden BD. I had my golden BD when I was 7 and it went by with nothing special. We didn't have much and that was okay, but to this day, I still feel sad about not having at ealst had a little BD party w/ friend or something. I'll never tell my parents that though. THey tried. Our oldest will ahve his golden BD on his 18th BD so I'm sure we're going to try and make that super special. As much as we can anyway. So I don't want our youngest at that time to feel he missed out. He'll be 11 when the oldest turns 18. I'm certain I'm worrying about this too much, but indulge me anyway.

So though my 2 yo won't remember this, we plan to take AMPLE pictures of the occasion and WE will remember it. We have the concierge team on the Wonder to help w/ what ever we might need. Normally I'm the creative one. I make my living as an artist, but I admit to just drawing (no pun intended ) on this one.

So lay it on me, what have YOU done for your kids's golden BD's (or any special BD for that matter ) that I might be able to gleen some ideas from.

What is a golden birthday?

When the date of the birthday corresponds with the number of years old they are. So November second will be our DS Daniel's second birthday. Our oldest' BD is April 18th so when he's turning 18 that will be his golden BD.

I have never heard of a "Golden Birthday". Is it something unique to your family or a local custom???

Hmmm.... I've never heard of it either. I'm always learning something new on the DIS. I guess this is a tradition we won't be starting in our family sincce 3 out of the 4 of us have already missed ours. LOL!!!

I have heard of Golden Birthday's and we celebrate them too. Nothing extravagent or anything, we just kinda note that it is in deed their Golden Birthday and celebrate that. I had to wait 30 years for my Golden Birthday

Good, someone else has heard of them. Nope, not unique to my family. Everyone I've every known has known what they were. Friends all over the U.S. have known. Even the local radio station I listen to (I'm in a pretty big city) has made mention of them. I don't know why some people don't know.

DH just told me that he and some buddies celebrated a friend's golden BD in FL when he was in the Navy. I'm just as shocked that people haven't heard as people are to learn about it.
