Gold Pass certificate question

We currently have AP's (PP from last year's deal) that expire in November 2018. We have a trip coming up shortly where we will use those AP's. Last night we opted to purchase gold pass certificates/vouchers by calling into DVC. We plan to use these in July 2019. The CM we purchased from suggested we just hold onto the 12 digit code until after our upcoming trip just so there was no risk of the gold passes becoming activated when entering parks. This seemed a little off to me as I thought there was a whole verification process to active the certificates. Has anyone had experience with this? Are we safe to link these new certificates to our My Disney Experience account now or should we wait until after our trip or even after our current PP AP's expire?

Thanks, Greg

I don't have an exact answer to your question but will tell you my experience the last couple days. Our family of 5 all has AP's which I renewed last year (they are good until December). At some point between 60 days and now (trip in 3 weeks) my 12 year old daughter's profile completely disappeared from MDE. Nothing. No AP and no Fastpasses. I have two certificates that I had entered into MDE into with placeholder names (just initial and our last name). My 3 calls to MDE now have been complicated by the fact that those certificates are in their system. They kept telling me D12 did not have a pass. (Because of course I would have AP's for only 2 of my 3 kids and have all of them on an upcoming trip). At one point a CM told me to just show up and tell the CM that "she has a FP there was an issue just let her through." So long story short I would not enter the certificates right now until at least you get through your upcoming trip. MDE is a hot mess right now. And IT's level of help is hit and miss. Third call of over an hour and I think problem solved. If there is any chance of you having to go through that I would not recommend it right now. Just wait. :)

Sorry to hear about your experiences with this. It's hard enough to plan a trip when everything is working the way it is supposed to work... Thanks for sharing this though as it definitely makes me think I will just wait... Greg

Thanks. I apologize as my post turned into a mini vent session. I just don’t want anyone else to go through it!

When you have 2 tickets in your account, one of them gets assigned priority and I'm not sure how that is determined. Although APs usually require activation at a ticket window, that may be why the CM told you not to enter the tickets into MDE yet.
Good luck!
