Argh! We were looking forward to taking a lot of pictures at WDW next week, but when I went to use my camera today, the LCD monitor is blank and won't record images. It records sound in the movie mode, but no image. I tried changing the CF card, but it didn't make a difference. Any one have this happen before?

It's a one year old Canon PowerShot A60. I just can't figure it out. It hasn't suffered any trauma, temperature, or humidity extremes. :confused3

Have you checked the batteries? How about if there are any buttons that could have moved that turn on/off the monitor?

Go buy another quickly!
Unfortunately, I don't have a spare $250 lying around. :(

Yes, the batteries are freshly charged, and when they are low, the camera doesn't function at all. It is working (shutter releases, flash goes off, etc.) but the images aren't recording. It will still display previously taken images, also.

It actually stopped recording the image in the middle of shooting in the movie mode. DH was recording a message for DS before he left for work. Halfway through, the screen went black. When I downloaded the movie to the computer, the sound played all the way through, but the image went black halfway through. Does this make sense?

Thank you for the responses. Please keep them coming. :wave2:

OK, so what are we going to do about this MAJOR problem? Do you still have warranty on the camera?

Have you tried looking for a Canon users forum? They might have a better idea of the problem.

Thanks so much for the link! I will try it. I had no idea where to turn. I tried searching for troubleshooting, etc, but didn't even think of a Canon user forum.

Thanks again!:worship:

From the posts on the Canon user forum, it appears this is a hardware problem. The email I just received from Canon said that it appears my camera needs factory servicing. :badpc:

Wouldn't you know, my warranty just ran out in May? :headache: Grrrrr
